CABLE VANDALISM: SUSPECT CAUGHT IN ABIA COMMUNITY. (PHOTO).

Abia State Community Policing Vigilante has arrested an electric cable thief, simply identified as Samuel, while vandalizing power installations along Isi Court-Ikputu road in Isiala Ngwa area. While two out of the three thieves escaped with their operational tricycle, the leader of the syndicate identified as Samuel, from Ebonyi State was apprehended by the Community Policing Vigilante. The arrest of the suspect was made known by the Commander of Abia State Community Policing Vigilante in the area, K.C. Martins. Martins, who said that efforts have been intensified by his men to arrest the two fleeing members of the criminal gang, commended Governor Alex Otti’s administration’s determination protecting the lives and property of the people in the State.      A 46-year-old Nigerian man, Obinna Stanley Ayanele, has been killed in South Africa. A statement released by the president of the Nigeria Union South Africa, Adetola Olubajo, says Ayanele who hails from Uruala, Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State, was murdered in cold blood by some criminals in his shop in Krugersdorp, Johannesburg, on Tuesday evening August 20th. The armed robbers attacked the deceased with the intention of stealing his money and items. “With deep sorrow in our hearts, the Nigeria Union South Africa regrets to announce the gruesome murder of another Nigerian, the late Stanley Ayanele from Uruala, Ideato North LGA, Imo, aged 46.       A little girl less than 10 years old was allegedly beaten to death by her father in Akure, Ondo state yesterday August 21st. Twitter user @YemieFASH who shared the shocking story online, said a woman took the girl's corpse to the state hospital in Akure but fled with the corpse after the girl was certified dead.      Yesterday newsmen reported that the United States' Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced the arrest of 80 suspected internet fraudsters. An update served on the arrest, revealed that 77 of the arrested suspects are Nigerians. They were accused of conspiring with federal and state agents to perpetrate the crime. Asides being involved in schemes that resulted in the transfer of at least $6 million which was obtained fraudulently, the suspects were also allegedly involved in the attempted theft of at least an additional $40 million. US attorney, Nick Hanna said the suspects handed a total of 252 count charges bordering on “conspiracy to defraud, conspiracy to commit money laundering, aggravated identity theft”, had nicknames such as “Thank You Jesus”, “Son of God”, American Man”, God is God”, “He is Risen”. TRIBUNAL SACKS DINO MELAYE AS KOGI WEST SENATOR,ORDERS FRESH ELECTION.

      Dino Melaye's election as the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District has been annulled by the Kogi State National Assembly/State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal. APC candidate in the February 23rd election, Smart Adeyemi, filed a petition before the tribunal challenging Dino's victory. He cited irregularities, over voting and non compliance with the electoral acts. Delivering judgement in the petition this morning Friday August 23rd, the three man panel led by Justice A. O. Chijioke, unanimously annuled the election and ordered a re-election into the senatorial district.

       The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,   # EFCC , Lagos Zonal office, on Thursday, August 22, 2019, arraigned one Taofik Oladipo Elias, a lawyer, before Justice Hakeem Oshodi of the State High Court sitting in Lagos on a two-count charge bordering on stealing to the tune of N20.4million. The complainant, Gunther Uche Maduike, allegedly approached the defendant to sell a property in the Obalende area of Lagos for him. The defendant, however, allegedly failed to remit the proceeds from the sale of the property to the family of the complainant. One of the counts reads: "That you, Taofik Oladipo Elias, on or about 13th February, 2015 in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with a dishonest intent, converted to your own use the sum of N10,000,000.00k (Ten Million Naira) property of Gunther Uche Maduike."        A Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos State, has given the order to remand nine suspected internet fraudsters in Ado-Ekiti prison pending the hearing of criminal charges filed against them. Justice Nicholas Oweibo, the presiding judge and designated vacation judge for the Federal High Court in the Southwest, gave the order on Thursday, August 22, 2019 when the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibadan zonal  office, arraigned the suspects before the court. The suspects are Jejelowo Blessing, Charles Ilesanmi Omobolade, Adelanke Adesola Abiodun, Jejelowo Samson Olanrewaju and Quadri Adewale Ayuba.
