 Taraba: Police Commissioner Calls for Peaceful Coexistence Between Herders and Farmers The Taraba State Commissioner of Police, Ukachi Peter Opara, has urged for greater peace and understanding between herders and farmers in the state. During a meeting with the leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Jalingo on Thursday, Opara highlighted the importance of dialogue and cooperation for long-term development. He emphasized that peaceful coexistence between these groups is crucial for their livelihoods and for fostering economic growth and stability in the state and the nation. Opara commended MACBAN for its readiness to collaborate with the police in promoting peace and security in Taraba. He reassured that the police would continue to work diligently to protect lives and property and pledged to leave no stone unturned in maintaining peace and stability in the state. TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS IN KADUNA+RESTORED PEACE IN OTUKPO.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

       1. Troops of the Mobile Strike Team II in Kaduna while on patrol around Rijana apprehended 2 suspected kidnappers. The suspects are still in the custody while investigation is ongoing. 2. In another development, troops of the 72 Special Force Battalion have restored peace in Otukpo, Benue State following an altercations that ensued after suspected cultists invaded a political meeting and opened fire. Members of the All Progressive Congress were holding a meeting in a hotel along Old Otukpo road when the armed men reportedly stormed the venue and started shooting sporadically. Two persons were killed and another was wounded. 3.Troops have dominated the general area with patrol to avert any breakdown of law and order. 4. REPORTS ON RE-INTRODUCTION OF NEW POLLING UNITS.#PRESS RELEASE.

      The attention of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been drawn to some newspaper reports alleging that the Commission had perfected plans to re-introduce 30,000 new polling units in order to compromise the 2019 General Elections. The fact of the matter is that in response to 3,789 requests so far received nationwide for the creation of new polling units, the Commission directed its Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) to thoroughly asses and provide it with information on: 1. New settlements that are not served or inadequately served by existing polling units; 2. Areas with natural barriers that hinder access to existing polling units; 3. Areas that are distant from existing polling units; and 4. Areas affected by communal and other conflicts that make voting in existing polling units unsafe for voters. 3 MASQUERADE ARRESTED IN ANAMBRA FOR DISRUPTING A CHURCH PROGRAMME ON FRIDAY.

           The Anambra Police Command says it has arrested three masqueraders for allegedly disrupting a church programme on Friday night at Uke, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state The Police Public Relations Officer in the state,  Nkeiruka Nwode , told journalists on Saturday in  Awka  that the suspects attacked worshipers at the  Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry , Uke. “ Three masqueraders have been arrested in connection with the church attack. We have commenced investigation into the cause of the incident and would notify you when concluded ,”  Nwode  said. The  News Agency of Nigeria  gathered that the masqueraders were celebrating a festival known as “ Uzo Iyi ” festival. Mr  Nwode , however, denied that the masqueraders attacked the police officers from Special Anti Robbery Squad, who responded to calls on the breach of peace.         A terrible involving 4 people happened in Osumenyi,Anambra state. According to report,a bus driver collided with an okada man identified as Celestine Okonkwo from Obiuno with the woman he was carrying. The cyclist and the woman his female passenger died on the spot while 2 others who were severely injured were rushed to the hospital.More photos below.

LAGOS IS SET TO UNVEIL GANI FAWEHINMI NEW STATUE TODAY AT OJOTA PARK.{PHOTOS}.

         The Lagos State Government is set to unveil a new statue of Chief Gani Fawehinmi, SAN sited at the beautiful park in Ojota which is named after the late legal luminary and human rights advocate on Sunday. State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, with members of the Gani Fawehinmi family, leading voices in human rights and other dignitaries across the state, will unveil the edifying statue in commemoration of the late activist’s 80th posthumous birthday. Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Steve Ayorinde in a statement, said the remodelling of the magnificent Gani Fawehinmi statue was part of the State’s strategy to enhance the aesthetic beauty of open public spaces and parks across the state and to celebrate and immortalise worthy icons that contributed immensely to the development of Lagos State.        This photograph above was taken in July 1946 when The Queen, then Princess Elizabeth, was 20 years old. On her 21st birthday, The Queen made a speech dedicating her life to service and to this day continues to carry out Royal Duties, from visits to charities and schools, to hosting visiting Heads of State and leading the nation’s celebratory events.
