Abia State Community Policing Vigilante has arrested an electric cable thief, simply identified as Samuel, while vandalizing power installations along Isi Court-Ikputu road in Isiala Ngwa area. While two out of the three thieves escaped with their operational tricycle, the leader of the syndicate identified as Samuel, from Ebonyi State was apprehended by the Community Policing Vigilante. The arrest of the suspect was made known by the Commander of Abia State Community Policing Vigilante in the area, K.C. Martins. Martins, who said that efforts have been intensified by his men to arrest the two fleeing members of the criminal gang, commended Governor Alex Otti’s administration’s determination protecting the lives and property of the people in the State.  Two pilots killed in small World War II-era plane crash during Father's Day event in California A World War II-era plane crashed during a Father's Day event in California, killing two pilots on board the plane, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The FAA said a twin-engine Lockheed 12A crashed shortly after departing Chino Airport in California around 12:35 p.m. on Saturday, June 15.  Officials said two people were on board when the plane crashed. No one on the ground was injured, officials said.  Authorities did not identify the pilots, but according to two friends who spoke with FOX 11, one of the victims was Frank Wright, the Chief of Operations at the Yanks Air Museum.  The witness told FOX 11 that Wright had participated in a panel discussion at a Father's Day event at the museum before the crash.  Nigerian Teenage Girls Trafficked To Ghana Arrive In Lagos – NIDCOM The 10 Nigerian teenage girls allegedly trafficked to Ghana for prostitution have returned to Nigeria, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has disclosed. The Chairman of the Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, who made the disclosure in a post on her X handle, said the girls who were rescued in Ghana arrived Lagos at about 9:55 pm on Friday. According to her, the girls who are mainly from Imo State were accompanied by representatives of  Imo State government. The NIDCOM Chairman added that the girls were handed over to National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and their respective states for rehabilitation and counseling. She stated that the trafficker has been arrested and charged to court in Ghana. A Federal High Court in Kano had on Friday slammed the fine on the Kano Government.  Soludo's Wife Enrols 1,000 Persons With Special Needs Into Anambra Health Insurance Scheme By Chisom Okafor The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo, has sponsored the enrollment of 1,000 persons with special needs into the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme. The event, which took place at the Governor's Lodge, Amawbia, is the largest ever convergence of such beneficiaries receiving the sponsorship from a governor's wife since the scheme began in 2018. Mrs Soludo said that she was proud to support the beneficiaries from the 179 communities in the state.  Eid- al- Kabir:  Olukoyede Calls for More Concerted Efforts against Corruption   Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC,  Mr. Ola Olukoyede has called for enhanced and more determined efforts against economic and financial crimes and other acts of corruption.   He made the call in Abuja on Sunday, June 16,  2024  in his Goodwill Message to muslim faithfuls across the country in celebration of Eid- al- Kabir.  The anti-graft czar rejoiced with the nation on the momentous occasion of Eid-al-Kabir and  stressed that the lessons of the festival should drive more commitments to the anti-corruption fight.  "The lessons of forbearance, sacrifice, faith and hope in Almighty Allah which Eid teaches should imbue in us fresh desire to please God and serve our nation without corrupt practices.  We should renew our efforts towards fighting all forms of economic and financial crimes", he said.    ...
