 Taraba: Police Commissioner Calls for Peaceful Coexistence Between Herders and Farmers The Taraba State Commissioner of Police, Ukachi Peter Opara, has urged for greater peace and understanding between herders and farmers in the state. During a meeting with the leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Jalingo on Thursday, Opara highlighted the importance of dialogue and cooperation for long-term development. He emphasized that peaceful coexistence between these groups is crucial for their livelihoods and for fostering economic growth and stability in the state and the nation. Opara commended MACBAN for its readiness to collaborate with the police in promoting peace and security in Taraba. Singer Tems bags two nomination for 2023 Grammys Nigerian music sensation, Tems has been nominated for the Grammy Awards in 2023. The 27-year-old singer and songwriter bagged two nominations in the Best Melodic Rap Performance and Best Rap Song categories. Okorowo of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Tuesday,   November 15, 2022, issued a bench warrant on  James Richard Nolan, a Briton,  for jumping bail and failing to appear before him for trial. Nolan, one of the directors of Goidel Resources Limited, a Designated Non-Financial Institution, DNFI,   and another company,   ICIL Limited, are standing trial on 16- count charges bordering on money laundering. On the last adjourned date, counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC,  G.C Ofulue, sought  a bench  warrant  on the defendant, but the judge decided to give the defence more time to produce him  on the next adjourned date. The Benue-based man said he had to pay an extra fee of N25,200 after seven of the chairs he rented were stolen at the venue of the event, which was held on Saturday, November 12, 2022. “You attended My Mum’s burial & stole 7 Chairs I hired, leaving me to pay 25,200 (3,600 each)” he wrote on Monday. The suspects who gave their names as Ugba Terese,  popularly known as (Big Sharp) of St Augustine Church Demekpe, Makurdi, and Orjime Ahamgba Kanyima of behind Navy Barracks Kanshio, Makurdi. When quizzed, both suspects admitted snatching a phone from a traveler who alighted from Kano last night, as well as collecting Twelve Thousand Naira (N12,000) from another traveler last week at gun point. A student has become Miss America's first ever transgender contestant to win a local pageant - prompting critics to accuse the 'woke' competition of 'allowing opportunities to be stolen away from female contestants'. Earlier this month, Brían Nguyen, 19, made Miss America history when she became the first transgender woman to win the Miss Greater Derry title. The Miss Greater Derry Scholarship Program, set up by the Miss America Organisation, welcomes contestants between the ages of 17 and 24 who are judged on their 'their achievements in scholastic, aptitude, talent, character, community service and poise', according to their website. 10 Passengers Perish In Kaduna - Abuja Road Auto Crash A horrifying accident on the Kaduna-Abuja road has claimed the lives of ten people, among them a doctor. A Golf automobile leaving Abuja at roughly 10 a.m. on Monday was involved in the accident.  The accident took place close to Oma Gas Industry. The driver of the vehicle lost steering control, killing 10 passengers. An eyewitness, Mallam Usman Kasai, reported that the driver was speeding when he lost control and slammed the culvert. Officials from Road Safety and KADVIS evacuated the victims' remains and deposited them at St. Gerald Hospital.
