PSC PROMOTES OVER 8,000 POLICE OFFICERS. (PHOTO).

 PSC Promotes Over 8,000 Police Officers On Wednesday, the Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of 8,053 senior police officers. Earlier in the week, 11 Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were elevated to the rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs). Additionally, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to DCPs, and 57 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) moved up to Assistant Commissioners (ACPs). According to a statement by the PSC's spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the total number of promotions included 1,348 Superintendents of Police (SPs) promoted to Chief Superintendents, 876 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) promoted to Superintendents, and 5,829 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) promoted to DSPs. OGUN COVID-19 UPDATE: 8 NEW CONFIRMED CASES,6 DISCHARGED,20 TOTAL.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

      As at 11:25pm, 21st April, 2020, the NCDC announced 3 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the State. The Centre later disclosed 5 other confirmed cases transferred from Lagos State to Ogun, bringing to total, 20 confirmed cases (17 males; 3 females) at the time. Of the 8 confirmed cases, 5 were transferred from Lagos after the 3 earlier declared. All identified contacts of confirmed cases are currently under observation at the State Isolation Centres, as authorities continue contact tracing to identify all contacts. The State has 10 imported cases out of the 20, with 8 international travel histories and 2 local travel histories (Lagos). The 10 other cases are local contacts. So far, contacts across 8 local government areas are under observation. The LGAs include: Ipokia, Sagamu, Ewekoro, Ikenne,Yewa South, Ado-Odo Ota, Obafemi Owode, and Odogbolu.     Comedian, Francis Agoda aka I Go Dye, has announced plans to donate his mansion to the Federal government to be used as an Isolation center as the nation continues to battle the Coronavirus pandemic.     In the evening of Saturday, 28 March 2020, I was notified that I had tested positive for Covid-19. I immediately made a public disclosure of this sad news and proceeded into isolation under the strict supervision of our healthcare professionals. I am delighted to report today, that after nearly four weeks of observing a strict medical regime, I have now received the all-clear after two consecutive negative test results. I thank Almighty Allah for His grace and mercy. I also acknowledge with gratitude the massive outpouring of sympathy, prayers and public support that followed the disclosure of the infection. My family not only went through the trauma of potentially losing a member, but also the risk of being infected as well.      The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Lagos Chapter, has distributed relief materials to over 200 female journalists and widows across Lagos State. Speaking during the distribution exercise at Radio Lagos Complex, Alausa, the NAWOJ Chairperson – Comrade Adeola Ekine – said the edible items were received from the Lagos State Government as part of the measures to cushion the effects of the COVID -19 lockdown. COVID-19: SANWO-OLU INCREASES HAZARD ALLOWANCE OF HEALTH OFFICERS.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

      Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved a 400 percent increment in the hazard allowance for all Health Officers in Lagos State from N5,000 (Five Thousand Naira) to N25,000 (Twenty Five Thousand Naira) for the month of April 2020. The announcement of the increment was contained in a circular issued by the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola on Tuesday, 21st of April, 2020. Explaining the rationale for the increment, the Head of Service stated that the gesture was in appreciation of health workers' in the fight against COVID-19, as well as their daily exposure to hazardous situations. COVID-19: GATEMAN SAVES IKOYI HOUSE FROM ROBBERS DISGUISED AS MEDICAL TEAM.[PHOTO].

      At around 1 am early today 21st April, some 3 or 4 people went to a building in Ikoyi and called to the guard of the building saying they were from the hospital, because they had information that there was a corona patient in the building and they had come to take him. They repeatedly instructed the guard to open the Main Gate. According to the guard's description, two or three of them were wearing PPE, masks and gloves, and  two in army uniform. They also wore masks and gloves. Though the guard was a bit shaken, he made it clear to them that the landlord himself would have to tell him to open the gate. If they really have to take a corona patient, they have to wait outside till the morning. As the guard did not open the gate, they said they would come back later in the morning.          A retired bishop in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has become the first African bishop to die from COVID-19, reports Crux Now. Bishop Gérard Mulumba Kalemba, 82, the emeritus bishop of Mweka in the Kasai Province, died on April 15 and was buried the next day at the Saint Kaggwa Seminary cemetery in the capital, Kinshasa. The funeral was closed to the public but was attended by family members, including his nephew, Congolese President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi. Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo, the archbishop of Kinshasa, presided at the liturgy. Father Donatien Nshole, the Secretary General of the National Episcopal Conference of the Congo (CENCO), praised Mulumba Kalemba in a statement. “I knew him as a priest and bishop.
