 October 1 protest: Ogun court restricts protesters to MKO Abiola Stadium, three other venues A High Court sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has restricted members of the #FearlessInOctober protest groups in the state to the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu; Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu Ode, and Ansar-Ud-Deen Comprehensive High School, Ota. The court presided by Tajudeen. A.Okunsokan gave this order following an application brought by the Attorney-General of Ogun State in suit no AB/667/2024, and with Messers Afolabi Adeboye, Ifemosu Michael, Lekan Soneye (for themselves and members of the#FearlessInOctober protests); Bestman Okereafor (on behalf of the Progressive Students Movement), Francis Adeyanju (on behalf of the National Association of Nigerian Students) and Thomas Kehinde (on behalf of the National Association of Ogun Students), as respondents. LAGOS ALLAYS FEARS ON A BOMB ALLEGEDLY DROPPED IN A MANHOLE TODAY IN ONE OF THE STREETS IN AGEGE.{PHOTOS}.

                   The Lagos State Government today monday allayed fears of residents on suspected explosive substance which was allegedly dropped in a manhole in one of the streets in Agege area of the State,saying that the development was nothing to worry about.The development had led to residents scampering for safety following the bomb scare,but rising from the Monthly Security Council Meeting chaired by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode,the government urged the people to go about their normal businesses as the situation had been put under control.The State's Commissioner of Police,Mr Fatai Owoseni,who briefed journalists at the end of the meeting alongside service commanders of security formations and top government functionaries in the State,said security agencies responded swiftly to the development and found out that contrary to rumour the substance was just pieces of thrash dropped in th manhole.He said: ''Early this morning,we were alerted to a situation where it was repo

                                                          According to sources,at least 4 people were killed and 15 others injured in a suicide bomb attack on a university campus in Maiduguri.The blast happened today monday at a mosque in the staff quarters area of the University of Maiduguri,and is thought to have been carried out by a teenage girl,There was no immediate claim of responsibility but suspicion will likely fall on the armed group Boko Haram,which has repeatedly used young women and girls as human bombs.Borno police spokesman Victor Isuku said that before the blast at the mosque,police on patrol shot a girl aged about 12 as she tried to get into the university at about 04:15 GMT.''The IED {Improvised explosive device} strapped to her body exploded,killing her instantly'',he said in a statement.''Shortly after that a second explosion occurred in a mosque inside the university.Four persons,including a professor and the second suicide bomber,died,whil

HERITAGE BANK TO SACK MORE OF THEIR STAFFS VERY SOON.

                        According to News Agency of Nigeria {NAN} though Heritage Bank has embarked on mass retrenchment of it workers with 400 staff sacked in December,recent reports said that the Bank have penciled down some more workers for sack.The bank acquired Enterprise Bank with about N56 billion {$281 million} in October 2014.A top management staff in the bank told NAN that the sack cuts across the top,middle and low cadres.He said the mass sack was creating apprehension and fears among the remaining staff.The management staff said the remaining workers,especially those from the former Enterprise Bank,feared they could be disengaged anytime.He said workers from the former Enterprise Bank were the most affected in the ongoing restructuring exercise designed to improve the bank's profitability.The bank's Head of Corporate Communications,Mr Fela Ibidapo told NAN that the figures were not correct.Ibidapo noted that the development was not limited to the bank,saying it cut

                                                      Troops of 119 Task Force Battalion of 7 Brigade Nigeria Army on Operation LAFIYA DOLE while on mop up and clearance patrol today,came across graves of Boko Haram terrorists that escaped with gun shot wounds and died after an encounter on 13th January 2017 and buried in shallow graves.Similarly,the troops recovered a 36 Hand Grenade and one 12.7 X 108mm round of ammunition concealed by the terrorists.The troops have continued their patrols by dominating the general area of Baga,Kangarwa and Dogonchikun with a view to intercepting fleeing Boko Haram terrorists.
