APPLE'S STATEMENT ON MINERALS MUST BE 'VERIFIED'-DRC. (PHOTO).

 Apple's statement on minerals must be 'verified': DRC International lawyers for the Democratic Republic of Congo welcomed Apple's decision to stop sourcing minerals from there due to worsening conflict, but said they would press ahead with their cases against the company in Europe. Criminal complaints were filed against Apple subsidiaries in France and Belgium this week on behalf of DR Congo, accusing the tech firm of using conflict minerals in its supply chain, Reuters reported. DR Congo is a major source of tin, tantalum and tungsten, so-called 3T minerals used in computers and mobile phones. But some artisanal mines are run by armed groups involved in massacres, rapes and other crimes, say UN experts and rights groups. 'Satisfaction and caution' Apple said on Tuesday that it strongly disputes the claims and has told suppliers they must not use the minerals in question sourced from DR Congo or Rwanda.                 The EFCC,has re-arraigned a former governor of Abia State,Orji Kalu; his ex-aide,Jones Udeogo and Kalu's company,Slok Nigeria Limited,on an amended 34-count charge bordering on criminal diversion of fund to the tune of N3.2billion from the Abia State Government's treasury during Kalu's tenure as governor.Kalu and others were docked before Justice Anwuri Chikere of Federal High Court,Abuja nine years after their cases were stalled.They were first arraigned in 2007 before Justice Adamu Bello of the Fedral High Court,Abuja {now retired}. Prio to their arraignment,Kalu and others had argued against the proceedings,and urged the court to await the appeal by Slok pending at the Supreme Court.But Justice Chikere rejected their objection to their arraignment and ordered them to enter their please.The defendants pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to them,and they were granted bail on the terms attached to the bail earlier grante...

                     According to one of my reporter Chinenye Genevieve,who sent in all this pictures with the caption ''Six people were reportedly found dead and two others unconscious earlier today at 50-50 Hotel,located around Uyo street in Umuahia,Abia State.The hotel is a brothel and the girls living there have had experience of mysterious slaps some weeks back that left one person unconscious.This incident of strange slaps made all the occupant of the brothel to leave,only for the owner to recruit news ladies from other cities,Unfortunately,3 ladies and their customers are today not alive to tell the story of what happened or what befallen them over night that left them dead.All the six dead bodies have been deposited at the morgue as at press time and the two unconscious body taken to the hospital.The Nigerian Police has cordoned off the hotel,as crowd builds up around the environment to catch a glimpse of what happened.We al...
