PSC PROMOTES OVER 8,000 POLICE OFFICERS. (PHOTO).

 PSC Promotes Over 8,000 Police Officers On Wednesday, the Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of 8,053 senior police officers. Earlier in the week, 11 Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were elevated to the rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs). Additionally, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to DCPs, and 57 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) moved up to Assistant Commissioners (ACPs). According to a statement by the PSC's spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the total number of promotions included 1,348 Superintendents of Police (SPs) promoted to Chief Superintendents, 876 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) promoted to Superintendents, and 5,829 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) promoted to DSPs. This is the first picture of the new simple black marble slab featuring the name of the late Queen as she lays beside her beloved husband Prince Philip.  The exclusive image emerged after worshippers were allowed into King George VI Memorial Chapel earlier this week for church services following Her Majesty's moving private burial on Monday night. Her name was inscribed alongside that of her father George VI, Elizabeth the Queen Mother and that of her late husband who died last year at the age of 99. It is the first time the names of the Queen and Philip have been seen together in the King George VI memorial chapel on the black Belgian marble, as a previous image released in 2002 only showed the gold lettering for George VI and the Queen Mother along with the dates of their birth and death. On 18/09/2022 at about 1530hrs, based on technical intelligence, Police operatives attached to Niger State Police Command's Intelligence unit arrested one Mustapha Yusuf aged 33yrs 'm' of Barkin-Sale area of Minna. The suspect was trailed and arrested at a hotel in Gabasawa area of Kaduna State for being suspected to have stolen a vehicle in Minna. Recently, on 14/09/2022 at about 1750hrs, a complainant reported an incident of car theft at GRA Division, that on the same date at about 0900hrs, he parked his Toyota Pontiac Vibe vehicle with Reg. No. MNA 974 SK at Dutsen-Kura, by London street, Minna and when he returned afterwards, the vehicle was missing from where it was parked. Only son allegedly kills his parents in Nnewi    A 21-year-old man identified simply as Chukwudi has killed his mother and father in Nnewi, Anambra state.  The suspect said to be an undergraduate of a university in Anambra, is the only son of the couple, Mr. and Mrs Micheal Ulor, from Nsukka, Enugu State. The already decomposing corpses were found with machete cuts in their apartment at Mr. Moses Nnodu’s compound, Abubor Nnewichi-Nnewi, close to Orie Agbo Market on Thursday evening, September 22, 2022.  It was gathered that the suspect allegedly killed his parents after a heated argument over their refusal to give him money.  It's suspected that Chukwudi killed his parents three days ago before he fled to an unknown destination.  The corpses were reportedly discovered by neighbours, who started perceiving offensive smell from their bedroom. 3 ABDUCTED, HOUSES RAZED OVER INDIGENES, SETTLERS DISPUTE IN BENUE Three persons were, yesterday, reportedly abducted and two houses razed in a protracted communal dispute between Ihyarev and Kparev communities in Tyo Mu village on the outskirts of Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State. The crisis, which has lingered over disputed land in the village had over time led to the burning down of houses and property belonging to the feuding parties. It was gathered from a source in the area that the fresh crisis erupted in the community after three Kparev youths were allegedly abducted by Ihyarev youths, which sparked angry protests and threats of reprisal. ISWAP Claims Responsibility For Attack On Nigerian Police Checkpoint In Edo, Killing Of Personnel The latest claim by ISWAP comes a few hours after it said its men attacked a police vehicle in Ondo State. The Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), formerly known as Jamā'at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da'wah wa'l-Jihād has claimed responsibility for an attack on a police checkpoint in Edo State. According to ISWAP in a post, seen by SaharaReporters, the attack occurred in the state on Thursday, September 22, 2022. It added that a policeman was killed during the attack. EFCC Can Freeze State Govt's Accounts -Appeal Court Rules  The Federal Court of Appeal, Makurdi Division, has overturned the judgment of the Federal High Court, Makurdi holding the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, from freezing the account of Benue State Government for the purpose of investigations, without a court order.     In a unanimous judgment delivered by Justice M.S. Hassan on Thursday, September 22, 2022, the appellate court held that, the EFCC has powers to place any account, (state governments' accounts inclusive) on PND for 72hours, for the purpose of investigations, without a court order. N59.7m Fraud: Court Jails Pastor Seven Years In Lagos Justice Sherifah Solebo of the Special Offences Court siting in Ikeja, Lagos has convicted and  sentenced  Cletus Ilongwo, Presiding Pastor, Power of the Holy Ghost Evangelical Ministry, to seven years in prison for N59.7m fraud. Ilongwo was first arraigned by the Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on November 5, 2018 on  11-count charges , to which he pleaded "not guilty". He was subsequently re-arraigned on June 16, 2022 on an amended seven-count charge bordering on obtaining money under false pretence to the tune of N59.7million. LASG INVESTIGATES PALM AVENUE BUILDING COLLAPSE The Lagos State Government is investigating the collapse of a building on 2/4 Oye Sonuga Street, Palm  Avenue, Mushin, stressing that whoever is indicted in the incident will be severely punished. A statement signed by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Engr. Omotayo Bamgbose-Martins, after his unscheduled visit to the site of the incident,  said, that the four-floor building, which collapsed on Friday, is about 40 years old.  He has also directed that the adjoining building be pulled down for safety reasons, adding that efforts are on to rescue those who might have been trapped in the rubble. Noting that the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) and the Lagos State Materials Testing Laboratory have been directed to unravel the cause of the collapse, Bamgbose-Martins informed that the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency is leading the rescue operations.
