 Taraba: Police Commissioner Calls for Peaceful Coexistence Between Herders and Farmers The Taraba State Commissioner of Police, Ukachi Peter Opara, has urged for greater peace and understanding between herders and farmers in the state. During a meeting with the leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Jalingo on Thursday, Opara highlighted the importance of dialogue and cooperation for long-term development. He emphasized that peaceful coexistence between these groups is crucial for their livelihoods and for fostering economic growth and stability in the state and the nation. Opara commended MACBAN for its readiness to collaborate with the police in promoting peace and security in Taraba.       The construction of the imposing Rumuogba Flyover Bridge in the heart of Port Harcourt has been flagged off by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde. Performing the flag off on behalf of the Rivers State Government in a ceremony attended by Rivers Prominent Leaders and Traditional Rulers on Tuesday, the Oyo State Governor declared that Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has developed a legacy of promises kept.       The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) met today 21st October 2019 and considered the timetable and dates of elections for the Sabuwa State Constituency of Katsina State and Kogi West Senatorial District. The Katsina State House of Assembly vide a letter with Reference Number KTSHA/PER/HON/124/VOL.1/24 dated 26th September 2019 notified the Commission of the death of Hon. Mustapha Abdullahi, who represented Sabuwa State Constituency of Katsina State and the subsequent declaration of vacancy by the Katsina State House of Assembly. 2.       Justice Muhammed Idris sitting at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has fixed December 2, 2019 for judgment in the case involving a former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu. Kalu is being prosecuted alongside his company, Slok Nigeria Limited, and Udeh Udeogu, his Director of Finance and Accounts at the Abia State Government House over an amended 39-count charge bordering on conspiring and diverting the  sum of N7.65bn from the coffers of the state.

     The trial of Afeez Adesina Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley before Justice I. Nicholas Oweibo sitting in Federal High Court Ikoyi, Lagos was stalled today, Tuesday, October 22, 2019, as the defense counsel brought in a “motion on notice” asking the prosecution to front load more documents. The Nigeria artiste, Afeez Adesina Fashola was arraigned, on May 20, 2019 on an 11-count charge of credit card fraud p referred against him by the EFCC. The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to all the charge leading to the commencement of trial.

       In continuation of the sustained onslaught against terrorist elements in the Northeast of the Country, the Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has neutralized several Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters at Bukar Meram on the fringes of Lake Chad in the northern part of Borno State. The operation was executed yesterday, 21 October 2019, based on credible intelligence reports that   indicated a resumption of the use of the location to provide logistics support to the terrorists, using fishing activities as a cover. Accordingly, the ATF dispatched its attack aircraft to engage designated areas within the settlement. Before the strikes, over 35 terrorists were observed within the area of interest. The attack aircraft subsequently engaged the location in successive passes recording accurate hits on the target area, leading to the neutralization of several ISWAP fighters as well as the destruction of some of the structures. ...

      The Queen, as Patron of   Cruse Bereavement Care , yesterday evening helped celebrate the charity’s 60th Anniversary at a reception held in St James’s Palace. Cruse offer free, confidential bereavement support, advice and information through a network of nearly 5,000 volunteers. The charity provide face-to-face, group, telephone, email and website support for adults, young adults and children experiencing loss. At tonight’s reception, Her Majesty met individuals who have been instru mental in providing bereavement support following devastating events, including 9/11 and the Grenfell Tower Fire - after which a team of Cruse volunteers were based at Grenfell’s Family and Friends Assistance Centre for nine months. The Queen was also introduced to current volunteers who were supported by Cruse after a bereavement, and were subsequently inspired to dedicate their time to helping others going through a similar experience.More photos below.

    The EFCC, today October 21, 2019, arraigned two British nationals, James Richard Nolan and Adam Quinn (at large), before Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja for their alleged complicity in the controversial $9.6bn arbitral award to Process and Industrial Development Limited by a United Kingdom commercial court. The defendants, both directors of Goidel Resources Limited, a Designated Non-Financial Institution (DNFI) and ICIL Limited, were docked on a 16 count- charge bordering on money laundering.

       The Cyber Crime Section of the EFCC, Abuja Zonal office, have arrested four suspected internet fraudsters in Abuja. The suspects, Chijioke Okwuosah, Emeka Basil, Ayian Chimere and elochukwu Godwill Oguonu were arrested during a sting operation in the early hours of Friday, October 18, 2019 at House 34 and 35, 31Road Efab Estate Lokogoma, Abuja, following intelligence reports received by the Commission about their alleged involvement in the criminal activity. Items recovered from the suspects at the point of arrest include mobile phones, laptops and 2 cars. The suspects will soon be charged to court.More photos below.
