CABLE VANDALISM: SUSPECT CAUGHT IN ABIA COMMUNITY. (PHOTO).

Abia State Community Policing Vigilante has arrested an electric cable thief, simply identified as Samuel, while vandalizing power installations along Isi Court-Ikputu road in Isiala Ngwa area. While two out of the three thieves escaped with their operational tricycle, the leader of the syndicate identified as Samuel, from Ebonyi State was apprehended by the Community Policing Vigilante. The arrest of the suspect was made known by the Commander of Abia State Community Policing Vigilante in the area, K.C. Martins. Martins, who said that efforts have been intensified by his men to arrest the two fleeing members of the criminal gang, commended Governor Alex Otti’s administration’s determination protecting the lives and property of the people in the State. TWO GENERATIONS OF ROYAL FAMILY VISITED THE DEFENCE MEDICAL REHABILITATION CENTRE TODAY.{PHOTOS}.

    Today, two generations of The Royal Family visited The Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre near Loughborough. Both The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge unveiled a plaque to mark the first Royal visit since DMRC's opening. The Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre has been treating patients since October 2018, and will ensure rehabilitation treatment is available to seriously injured sailors, soldiers and members of the RAF. This  21st century medical hospital has replaced Headley Court, which treated injured members of the Armed Services for over 70 years. The new Medical Centre is located within the estate of Stanford Hall. The late 6th Duke of Westminster was inspired to create a state of the art medical facility after serving in the British Reserve Army for 40 years. He donated a personal founding gift of £70 million to create the hospital. The centre includes a gym, a range of swimming and hydrotherapy pools. ...

     The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal Office, on Tuesday, February 11, 2020, arraigned one Yushua Mohammed Ahmed before Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos on a four-count charge bordering on stealing to the tune of €3,808,870.00 (Three Million, Eight Hundred and Eight Thousand, Eight Hundred and Seventy Euro). . . Among other charges, Ahmed is alleged to have, between 29th September, 2015 and 26th October, 2010, in Lagos, converted to his own use, the sum of €458,425.00 (Four Hundred and Fifty-eight Thousand, Four Hundred and Twenty -five Euros) belonging to the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The offence is contrary to Section 280 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.

       The Makurdi zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on February 11, 2020 secured the conviction of one Otene Olafikwu before Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon of the Federal High Court sitting in Makurdi, Benue State, on a two-count charge bordering on currency counterfeiting. . . The convict was arrested alongside John Garba Aondohemba, Simon Atsen Gbagir and Janet Tyondugh for possessing and altering two counterfeit $50 bills. They were subsequently arraigned on February 6, 2020.

       The Police in Lagos has arrested suspected leader of a notorious cult group known as ‘Berry Boys’ that has been on their wanted list, over violent crimes and rival cult clashes in the state. The suspect, Maliki Bello, 22, who hails from Lalopun, Kwara State but resides at 23 Ayinla street, in Idiaraba area of Lagos state, disclosed during interrogation that he was initiated into the group when he was 12 years old  and in Junior Secondary School 1, before he rose to become the group’s supreme leader. He also revealed how members were recruited into the cult unknowingly. He said, “The gang has an official Facebook page (Bbl Baloteli) with 1,928 friends. We use the Facebook page and other social media accounts to recruit new members, plan attacks and give updates to members”.       A young girl whose name has been identified as Dele was found and pictured reading by the ATM gallery of First City Monument bank (FCMB) in Ondo Town. A Twitter user who was about using the ATM found the young girl sorting her homework with the uninterrupted electricity supply at the ATM stand. The tweet went viral and finally got to FCMB Management who asked people through the Bank’s official Twitter account to help fin d Dele so that she could be sponsored. The tweet: “I saw this little Dele at FCMB Bank along Yaba Road in Ondo City. She is using the ATM Gallery light to do her homework. My respect goes to her determination to make it in life.         Governor  Kayode Fayemi  has approved the release of N248,522,900 for the payment of the May/June 2020 WAEC fees of the entire 14,242 SS3 Students in Public Secondary Schools in Ekiti State.    The Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has approved the release of  N248,522,900 (Two hundred and forty-eight million, five hundred and twenty-two thousand, nine hundred naira), for the payment of the May/June 2020 WAEC fees of the entire 14,242 SS3 Students in Public Secondary Schools in the state. The State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Mr. Foluso Daramola, who made this known in Ado-Ekiti, said the Fayemi Administration had also, in the year 2019, procured 52,000 units of School furniture for Public Secondary Schools, across the state as part of efforts aimed at providing basic infrastructure in schools.
