 Taraba: Police Commissioner Calls for Peaceful Coexistence Between Herders and Farmers The Taraba State Commissioner of Police, Ukachi Peter Opara, has urged for greater peace and understanding between herders and farmers in the state. During a meeting with the leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Jalingo on Thursday, Opara highlighted the importance of dialogue and cooperation for long-term development. He emphasized that peaceful coexistence between these groups is crucial for their livelihoods and for fostering economic growth and stability in the state and the nation. Opara commended MACBAN for its readiness to collaborate with the police in promoting peace and security in Taraba. CHARLES OKAH SENTENCED TO LIFE IMPRISONMENT TODAY FOR MASTERMINDING 2010 ABUJA BOMB-BLAST.{PHOTOS}

                The Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday sentenced Charles Okah and his co-defendant, Obi Nwabueze, to life imprisonment for masterminding the bomb blasts which occurred in Abuja on October 1, 2010 and, earlier in Warri, Delta State, on March 15 of the same year. The two convicts were said to have planned the attacks with Charles’ elder brother, Mr. Henry Okah, the leader of the defunct Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta, who had been convicted of the same offences and sentenced to 24 years’ imprisonment by a South African court in 2013. Justice Gabriel Kolawole, delivering judgment in the case which commenced on December 7, 2010, when the convicts took their pleas, ruled that the prosecution, proved the charges preferred against Charles and Nwabueze beyond reasonable doubt.          Justice Mojisola O. Dada of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, refused the bail application of notorious fraudster, Emmanuel Nwude, who allegedly conspired with two others to tamper with a property that had been forfeited by a court order. Nwude alongside Emmanuel Ilechukwu and Rowland Kalu were, on March 2, 2018, arraigned on a 15-count charge bordering on forgery and dealing in forfeited property.        The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has scheduled the conduct of Councillorship by-elections into Ward B (Ogunoloko) and Ward B (Dopemu) in Oshodi-Isolo and Agege Local Governments of the State respectively for Saturday, 24 th   March 2018. The by-election timetable released by the Commission indicates that political parties are expected to collect Nomination forms on behalf of their candidates between Monday, 5 th  and Wednesday 7 th  March 2018 while the forms are to be submitted to the Commission not later than Tuesday, 13 th   March 2018.       Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode  on Wednesday  received a Nigerian, Bayode Treasures-Olawunmi who set a new Guinness World Record in longest reading marathon. Bayode, who was received by the Governor at Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja alongside top government officials, had set the new record under the Read Aloud project co-sponsored by Lagos State Government, Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB), Tagheuer, among others. The new record was set at exactly  3:30   on Saturday  at the YouRead Library in Yaba, Lagos State, after Bayode read for 120 hours non-stop over a period of five days to beat former record holder, Nepali Deepak Sharma, who read for 113 hours and 15 minutes in 2008. TWO KIDS SET ABLAZE BY THEIR HOUSE HELP IN AWKA ANAMBRA STATE,ONE OF THE CHILDREN IS DEAD ALREADY.{PHOTOS}.

       A heartbroken man shared a touching story of how his little cousins were set ablaze by their minor house help in Awka, anambra three weeks ago. According to him, the kids who were rushed to the hospital on that day, one of the kids identified as Ekene was reportedly lost the battle at about 1 am this morning in the hospital while the other kid Ebuka is still battling for his life. He wrote: May be its time to talk about this. About three weeks ago, my two little cousins met a near fatal fate as their house help, a minor set them ablaze for no concrete reason. My boy Ekene and his brother Ebuka fought hard. This night, around 1am, news reached us that Ekene has lost the battle. Ebuka is still fighting on. A GIRL CRUSHED TO DEATH AS CONTAINER FALLS FROM ARTICULATED VEHICLE IN ONITSHA {PHOTOS}.

         A fatal accident which happened early yesterday morning at RTC on Owerri road, Onitsha area of Anambra state - has left residents in a mourning mood.. According to reports, one female child was killed and one other person injured injured in the process of the crash. The accident reportedly occurred after a 40ft container fell from an articulated vehicle and caused havoc in the  area. Road safety officials arrived the scene after the accident to contain the huge traffic which was caused by the incident.The corpse of the little girl was eventually evacuated.More photos below.

     Governor Samuel Ortom today condoled former Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro over the death of his wife, Mrs. Veronica Moro. Speaking when he delivered a condolence letter to Comrade Moro at his Ugbokolo residence, the Governor described the loss as painful and irreparable. He prayed God to grant the deceased eternal rest and the bereaved family members the fortitude to bear the loss. Governor Ortom described Abba Moro as an old time friend with whom he shared a lot of family ties, saying the visit was beyond partisanship. Responding, Comrade Moro expressed appreciation for the visit, even as he also condoled with the Governor and people of Okpokwu over the killing of 24 persons yesterday by militia herdsmen.
