 Taraba: Police Commissioner Calls for Peaceful Coexistence Between Herders and Farmers The Taraba State Commissioner of Police, Ukachi Peter Opara, has urged for greater peace and understanding between herders and farmers in the state. During a meeting with the leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Jalingo on Thursday, Opara highlighted the importance of dialogue and cooperation for long-term development. He emphasized that peaceful coexistence between these groups is crucial for their livelihoods and for fostering economic growth and stability in the state and the nation. Opara commended MACBAN for its readiness to collaborate with the police in promoting peace and security in Taraba. President Muhammadu Buhari has assured the management of the National Human Rights Commission of his continuous support in its efforts to get closer to the people in order to assuage their grievances.  FIGHT AGAINST SGBV: LAGOS FIRST LADY COMMENDS JUDICIARY The wife of the Lagos State Governor, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has commended Lagos State Judiciary for supporting the fight against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), especially on the conviction of those found guilty in a bid to send a clear message to would-be perpetrators in society. Dr. Sanwo-Olu gave the commendation during an advocacy visit to the Office of the Lagos State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Kazeem Alogba, at the Lagos High Court in Ikeja. Justice Mohammed Sani of the Federal High Court sitting in Ilorin on Thursday, December 9, 2021 sentenced two suspected internet fraudsters found guilty of offences bordering on cyber fraud contrary to Section 22(2) (b) (ii) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention etc.) Act, 2015 and punishable under Section 22(2) (b) (iv) of the same Act. The two convicts: Onyeanu Chukwuemeka David and Anthony Anyadiora Obumneme were prosecuted on separate one count charge each by the Ilorin Zonal Command of the EFCC.

ABIA STATE OWES DOCTORS UP TO 23 MONTHS SALARY-NMA.{PHOTO}.

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) on Thursday urged three states to pay up doctors’ salaries and allowances. It said Abia has not paid doctors for up to 23 months. NMA President, Prof Innocent Ujah, spoke in Abuja during a briefing on the outcomes of its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Sokoto. He said: “The NEC expressed its disappointment with the failure of Abia, Ondo and Ekiti State governments to pay salaries in full and other allowances of doctors and other health workers for up to 23 months in Abia State and down to four months in Ekiti state.
