PSC PROMOTES OVER 8,000 POLICE OFFICERS. (PHOTO).

 PSC Promotes Over 8,000 Police Officers On Wednesday, the Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of 8,053 senior police officers. Earlier in the week, 11 Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were elevated to the rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs). Additionally, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to DCPs, and 57 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) moved up to Assistant Commissioners (ACPs). According to a statement by the PSC's spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the total number of promotions included 1,348 Superintendents of Police (SPs) promoted to Chief Superintendents, 876 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) promoted to Superintendents, and 5,829 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) promoted to DSPs. LAGOS STATE AUDITOR-GENERAL BOWS OUT OF CIVIL SERVICE The Permanent Secretary, Office of the State Auditor-General, Mr. Adeniji Salami, has meritoriously retired from the civil service after attaining the 35 years benchmark. Speaking recently at the event put together to commemorate his retirement in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, described the former Permanent Secretary/Auditor-General as an inventive pacesetter. The Head of Service, who was represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr. Oluseyi Whenu, said: “Adeniji Salami is an intellectual, visionary and an actualiser. He had shown dedication, diligence and exemplary conduct in the service of Lagos State. He championed many causes before and while in office as the Auditor-General, that has allowed seamless integration of all audit activities within the State's purview”. More photos below.

Drama In Kaduna As Residents Mistake Airforce Helicopter For Bandits  Residents of Kakuri, Nasarawa, Kurmi Gwari, Angwan Tarke, Romi, on Tuesday, ran into their houses, while some took cover, upon hearing the sound of a helicopter passing across the sky. The residents who were initially busy performing their daily routines took cover, thinking that bandits may have devised another means, to attack them. They said they could no longer trust anyone, including the government or security agents, alleging that most of the attacks are backed by some highly placed individuals in the country. A resident of Kurmi Gwari, Shuaibu Murtala said on many occasions, helicopters fly past to the North or South. He said some residents who were outside, upon hearing the sound of the helicopter, left what they were doing and ran into their homes for fear of attack. Why We Are Yet To Restore Services In Abuja-Kaduna Rail Corridor — Minister Minister of Transportation, Muazu Sambo, has said the need to rescue the abducted passengers on AK-9 train who are still in captivity was partly the reason train operations were yet to resume on the route. The minister stated this during his familiarization tour of the Idu and Kubwa train stations, Abuja yesterday. Gunmen Kill One, Abduct Kaduna Rector Gunmen have reportedly attacked and killed one person and abducted the Rector of the Federal School of Statistics, in Manchok, Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State. A source told The PUNCH that the attack took place at about 8 pm, Monday night, when the attackers stormed the village in their numbers. The source lamented, “The terrorist stormed the community at night and killed one person while a lady was kidnapped including the rector.” The attack was coming barely three weeks when two Ad hoc staff in charge of distributing mosquito nets were gunned down en route Zangang-Zankan road in the same LGA. A resident, John Auta, told our correspondent that the terrorist stormed the community with sophisticated weapons shooting sporadically before abducting the duo. Yobe serving Commissioner of Youth and Sports, Bukar Goni Lawan (a.k.a BUGON) is dead.  He died to motor accident on his way to Kano in the evening after attending funeral prayer of Yobe federal Commissioner, Alh. Hassan Gambo in the afternoon in Damaturu.  He was member of house of assembly, three times member of house of reps of Geidam, Bursari and Yunusari federal constituency from 2007 to 2019 and Commissioner for many times.  May his soul rest in peace.

Buni who couldn't resist his emotion decided to cut his Abuja trip short and return to Damaturu for the burial. Gov. Buni and the deceased had a long-standing relationship and he appointed him Commissioner of Youths and Sports after he was elected governor of Yobe State.

EFCC Arrests 17 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Lagos Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Command of the EFCC, on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, arrested 17 suspected internet fraudsters. The suspects are Ogunnowo Aderosola, Adebesin Adeyinka, Nkeokelonye Stanley Ifeanyi, Afolabi Babatunde Oluwaseun, Onyeka Nwokoro, Micheal Adedayo Owolabi, Musah Esosa Hakeem, Osim Happiness, Sanusi Timilehin Olawale, Sanusi Timilehin Rasak, Emmanuel Obogo Adeja, Ogunnowo Eniola, Idahosa Samuel Osas, Alabi Ajekola Peter, Timilehin Damilola Emmanuel, Egbuno Ifeanyi Favour and Jimoh Oluwapelumi Ibrahim. They were arrested in a sting operation at Kay-Farm Estate, Ishaga axis of Lagos State following credible intelligence on the activities of members of an Organised Cybercrime Syndicate Network who are into internet fraud.   Various items such as cars, mobile devices, and laptops were recovered upon their arrest.

EFCC Convicts Electrician for Romance Scam The Kaduna Zonal Command of the EFCC on August 3, 2022, secured the conviction of one Shittu Taiwo before Justice Darius Khobo on a one count charge. He pleaded guilty to the charge, prompting the prosecution counsel, M.E Eimonye, to ask the court to convict the defendant accordingly. Justice Khobo convicted and sentenced the defendant to 5 years imprisonment with an option of fine of N100, 000,00. He is also to forfeit his Nokia G10 Android phone to the Federal Government. I Can't Question Buhari's Expenese On Niger Republic - Finance Minister  The Federal Government has confirmed that it has purchased vehicles worth N1.4 billion to help Niger tackle insecurity. The Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed gave the confirmation on Wednesday, explaining that providing intervention to the neighboring Niger Republic is not new and it is the prerogative of President Muhammadu Buhari who approved the purchase. According to her, President Buhari, whose actions she cannot question, has the right to make his own assessment of situations and give directives accordingly. ANAMBARA MAN DONATES $1 MILLION DOLLARS TO UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN The acting Dean of Medical College, University of Ibadan,Prof Adebola Ogunbiyi held Zoom meeting with former students of the medical college. The acting Dean of the college ended her speech by appealing to the alumni of the college to support her in rebuilding and restoring the lost glory of the medical college. The donations were coming in trickles. 1 million naira here... 200,000 there. Until it got to the turn of Dr. Philip O. Ozuah (attached in the picture), an old student of the college who is currently the President and CEO of Montefiore Medicine in New York. Philip Ozuah did not say too much as he went straight to the point of making a donation of $1,000,000 (700,000,000). In his words, UI’s medical college shaped and refined him into the man he is today, so he has the duty to give back to the school. Dr. Ozuah is from Anambara state.
