 Taraba: Police Commissioner Calls for Peaceful Coexistence Between Herders and Farmers The Taraba State Commissioner of Police, Ukachi Peter Opara, has urged for greater peace and understanding between herders and farmers in the state. During a meeting with the leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Jalingo on Thursday, Opara highlighted the importance of dialogue and cooperation for long-term development. He emphasized that peaceful coexistence between these groups is crucial for their livelihoods and for fostering economic growth and stability in the state and the nation. Sequel to the collapse of a school building in Ejigbo in the early hours of Saturday, the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has directed the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development to carry out integrity tests on both public and private schools with buildings of three floors and above. The Honourable Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako disclosed that the Governor gave the directive on Saturday in order to ascertain the structural integrity of all school buildings above two floors with a view to preventing future occurrence in the State. He assured that the Ministry would comply immediately with the directive so as to actualise the State Government's aim of saving lives and property, especially as schools have been directed to resume after a long break due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
