PSC PROMOTES OVER 8,000 POLICE OFFICERS. (PHOTO).

 PSC Promotes Over 8,000 Police Officers On Wednesday, the Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of 8,053 senior police officers. Earlier in the week, 11 Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were elevated to the rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs). Additionally, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to DCPs, and 57 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) moved up to Assistant Commissioners (ACPs). According to a statement by the PSC's spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the total number of promotions included 1,348 Superintendents of Police (SPs) promoted to Chief Superintendents, 876 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) promoted to Superintendents, and 5,829 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) promoted to DSPs.                      According to NAN,'' Acting President Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday received the visiting Ghanaian President, Nana Akufo-Addo, at the Presidential villa, Abuja, the second time in a month. Akufo-Addo, who visited Nigeria last month,  arrived at the Villa at about 11.12 a.m. and was welcomed by Osinbajo who ushered him into the Acting President’s office through a red carpet.The visit lasted for barely four minutes as the Ghanaian leader went immediately to the National Defence College to deliver a lecture to the college graduands.Akufo-Addo won the country’s 2016 presidential poll against the incumbent, John Mahama, by a margin of 9.45 per cent.He was inaugurated into office on Jan. 7, 2017''.More photos below.

LAGOS RELEASES N515M TO 252 RETIREES+IMPLORES BENEFICIARIES TO INVEST IN PROFITABLE VENTURES.

              The Lagos State Government released N515 Million as benefits to the State’s retirees, just as it advised them not invest their retirement benefits in unprofitable ventures or businesses that they could not manage. The State Commissioner for the Ministry of Establishments, Training & Pensions, Dr. Akintola Benson, who represented Governor Akinwunmi Ambode at the 41st Retirement Bond Certificate Presentation ceremony held at Ikeja on Monday, said the continuous payment of retiree’s entitlements was to ensure that retirees were not deprived of their benefits in retirement. He said that in past 24 months (August 2015 to July, 2017), the State Government has, through Lagos State Pension Commission, LASPEC, has paid accrued pension rights in excess of N29 billion into the Retirement Savings Account (RSA) of 6,982 retirees, adding that the amount excludes the mandatory 15% contributions which the Government remits monthly into the Ret...

                  In its bid to ensure an enabling environment for the survival of Small Scale Enterprises in the Lagos, the State Government is set to streamline its tax and revenue collection. The State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Akinyemi Ashade, stated this today at the Tax and Revenue Stakeholders’ Forum organized by the Ministry at LASCOFED Conference Centre Ogba, Lagos. He explained that the proposed harmonization is in response to the appeal of Lagosians, particularly the business community, on multiple taxes collected by government, adding that the forum is to address areas of conflict, streamline revenue collection in the State between the State and Local Governments and set up a proper channel of collection and billing.                Yesterday, President Donald J. Trump awarded the Medal of Honor to former Specialist Five James C. McCloughan for conspicuous gallantry during the Vietnam War. McCloughan received the Medal of Honor for distinguished actions during 48 hours of close-combat fighting against enemy forces near Don Que, Vietnam, from May 13 to 15, 1969. McCloughan, then 23 years old, voluntarily risked his life on nine separate occasions to rescue wounded and disoriented comrades. POLICEMAN ''CORPORAL IROH ORJI'' WHO SHOT FRSC OFFICIALS IN ABA,HAD BEEN DISMISSED BY THE POLICE FORCE.

               The Commissioner of Police in Abia, Mr Leye Oyebade, said on Monday that the force had dismissed Police Corporal Iroh Orji, for shooting two officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) at Aba. Oyebade said this while addressing newsmen on the activities of the command. He said that Orji was tried and found guilty of the offence and had to be dismissed from the police. He said that “the command and the police hierarchy condemned the action of the corporal,” describing his action as a negation of the laid down rules of the force. He said, “Police do not advise its members to use their arms and ammunition recklessly. “Any armed police officer is expected to protect people not to shoot at them,” he said.              Anambra State Government has advised the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to restrain his followers from attacking Anambra politicians. This is coming on the heels of an attack launched on the State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano by members on the group on Sunday at Ekwulobia, Aguata council area of the state. Obiano, who was attending a holy mass at St Joseph Catholic Church was reportedly attacked by youths dressed in IPOB vests. Members of the group had also attacked a governorship candidate, Chief Godwin Ezeemo in Ihiala at the weekend, disrupting activities at his father in-laws burial ceremony with chants of ‘no election in Anambra’.
