 Taraba: Police Commissioner Calls for Peaceful Coexistence Between Herders and Farmers The Taraba State Commissioner of Police, Ukachi Peter Opara, has urged for greater peace and understanding between herders and farmers in the state. During a meeting with the leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Jalingo on Thursday, Opara highlighted the importance of dialogue and cooperation for long-term development. He emphasized that peaceful coexistence between these groups is crucial for their livelihoods and for fostering economic growth and stability in the state and the nation. Opara commended MACBAN for its readiness to collaborate with the police in promoting peace and security in Taraba.   The Executive Governor of Katsina State, His Excellency, Rt Hon Aminu Bello Masari, has commended the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for its responsiveness in the fight against armed banditry and other forms of criminality in Katsina State and other states in Northwest Nigeria. He also noted that the glaring commitment and dedication of the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Oladayo Amao, as well as the efforts of NAF personnel at the forefront of on-going operations in the Northeast has significantly curtailed the activities of the bandits and limited their scope of operation. Governor Aminu Masari disclosed this today, 18 June 2021, when he paid a courtesy call on the CAS at NAF Headquarters, Abuja. GOV. ABIODUN VISITS GAS EXPLOSION SCENE, OPIC, CONDOLES WITH VICTIMS, FAMILIES.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

  Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun was in Lagos this afternoon on an assessment visit to the scene of the gas explosion that rocked the Ogun State Property and Investment Corporation, OPIC Plaza and its environs in Ikeja. On the visit, the Governor sympathised with families of persons who lost their lives as well as individuals and businesses who lost properties in the tragic incident. He also expressed strong hopes that survivors, who were receiving treatment in hospital, would recuperate speedily. Speaking, Governor Abiodun appreciated first responders, especially the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA for their prompt and effective response which deescalated what could have been worse than what occured. The Governor condoled with the entire Management and staff of the OPIC, led by its Managing Director, Arch. Biodun Fari.   President Muhammadu Buhari will participate in the 59th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government in Accra, Ghana on Saturday, June 19, 2021. The President, who will depart Abuja on Saturday, will join other Heads of State of Government of ECOWAS for the mid-year statutory meeting of the regional bloc, with the exception of Mali, which was recently suspended from the group. Former President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria, ECOWAS Special Envoy and Mediator to Mali, is expected to present a report on his latest working visit to the West African country to the Summit of the Heads of State. The Heads of State and Government will also receive a report on ECOWAS institutional reforms, single currency programmes and a memorandum on the proposed mechanism of rotation of ECOWAS Member States’ candidature to the Chairmanship of the African Union.   •Solves Persistent Flooding Issues in the Area’ • Governor Flags Off Reconstruction of Another Set of Roads Heavy flow of traffic associated with the perennial flooding in Ikoyi-Obalende area of Lagos State is now past, with the complete regeneration of four arterial roads network in the axis by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. The Governor, on Friday, commissioned the newly rehabilitated Thompson Avenue, Milverton Road, McDonald Road and Lateef Jakande Road, which are all in Ikoyi, Eti Osa Constituency 2. The roads, which have a combined length of 3.75km, were in deplorable conditions, following the failure of the aligning drainage channels. Last year February, Sanwo-Olu awarded the rehabilitation project to Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, with the aim of solving the persistent flooding on the roads and upgrading their designs for durability.
