Abia State Community Policing Vigilante has arrested an electric cable thief, simply identified as Samuel, while vandalizing power installations along Isi Court-Ikputu road in Isiala Ngwa area. While two out of the three thieves escaped with their operational tricycle, the leader of the syndicate identified as Samuel, from Ebonyi State was apprehended by the Community Policing Vigilante. The arrest of the suspect was made known by the Commander of Abia State Community Policing Vigilante in the area, K.C. Martins. Martins, who said that efforts have been intensified by his men to arrest the two fleeing members of the criminal gang, commended Governor Alex Otti’s administration’s determination protecting the lives and property of the people in the State.        The leadership of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners, Benue State Chapter has distanced itself from the protest organised by the 'Concerned Pensioners' in the state, saying the protest was instigated and had a political undertone. CRIPPLED TEENAGE BEGGAR CRUSHED TO DEATH BY 40-FEET TANKER IN ONITSHA.{PHOTO}.

      A crippled teenage boy who is yet to be identified was reportedly crushed to death by an articulated vehicle while begging for alms at Upper Iweka, Onitsha in Anambra state. Sister to the deceased who was pushing him on a wheel chair, was said to have narrowly escaped death as she abandoned him and ran for her life. According to a report by TheNation, the driver of the ill-fated 40-feet tanker which had earlier loaded its liquid content, reportedly rammed into them following brake failure. An eye witness who simply identified himself as Uchenna, said the truck was descending the Onitsha Asaba expressway from Army barracks axis when he suddenly lost control and skidded off the road.     The Anambra State Government has commenced the registration of Fulani herdsmen, aimed at checking the farmers-herdsmen conflict in the state. Speaking to newsmen on the commencement of the registration, Chairman of Anambra State Cattle Menace Control Committee, Igwe Peter Eze-Amama said the registration point was at Amansea in Awka North council area. Eze-Amama said the enumeration process will help in an easy identification whenever there is a crisis. He said, “The enumeration will assist the cattle menace control committee to fish out the bad eggs from the Fulani herdsmen in Anambra state.” Alhaji Gidado Siddiki, South-East chairman of Miyetti Allah hailed the initiative and also urged herdsmen to respect their host communities as erring individuals will be punished accordingly.

     Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has re-stated his administration's commitment towards ensuring that Lagos is crime-free. He made this known at the commissioning of 125 patrol vehicles and 35 patrol motorcycles for the use of security operatives in the state.
