 Taraba: Police Commissioner Calls for Peaceful Coexistence Between Herders and Farmers The Taraba State Commissioner of Police, Ukachi Peter Opara, has urged for greater peace and understanding between herders and farmers in the state. During a meeting with the leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Jalingo on Thursday, Opara highlighted the importance of dialogue and cooperation for long-term development. He emphasized that peaceful coexistence between these groups is crucial for their livelihoods and for fostering economic growth and stability in the state and the nation. Opara commended MACBAN for its readiness to collaborate with the police in promoting peace and security in Taraba. LG ELECTION: LAGOS ANNOUNCES RESTRICTION OF MOVEMENT+URGES VOTERS TO PERFORM THEIR CIVIC DUTY PEACEFULLY.

                  The Lagos State Government has announced restriction of vehicular movement in the State on Saturday July 22, 2017 in view of the elections that will hold across the 20 Local Government and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) across the State. In a press release on Sunday by the State's Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, the restriction of movement across the State will be enforced between 8am and 2pm on Saturday July 22, to allow for a smooth conduct of the polls and unhindered participation. According to the Commissioner, the State is known for peaceful conduct of elections, and as such, urged residents to be peaceful and orderly on Saturday to cast their votes in their respective wards for Chairmen and councilors who are expected to drive development at the third tier of government.     '' The Abia State House of Assembly Speaker, Chikwendu Kalu, on Saturday, allegedly ordered some policemen in the state to shoot officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps on patrol. Eyewitnesses told SUNDAY PUNCH that the speaker gave the order when the FRSC officers stopped the Sport Utility Vehicle his wife was travelling in along the Umuikaa/Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway. “The driver reversed the vehicle and it was discovered that a woman in the passenger seat in front, is an officer of the Department of State Services attached to the governor’s wife. “The DSS officer ran towards the officer who stopped the vehicle, held him by uniform and dragged him to the ground, accusing him of hitting their vehicle,” a reliable source told SUNDAY PUNCH.                                                                       According to one of my reporter Chinenye Genevieve who just sent in this photo with the caption ''One teenager was killed and three other family members including a mother,her daughter and grand child injured in a kerosene explosion yesterday evening in Agbaja Nkporo,Ohiafia LGA of Abia State.An eyewitness identified as Orji Ndukwe Henry said the explosion occurred when one of the victims filled a lantern with a product suspected to be an adulterated kerosene and ignited it for use by the family.He was unlucky and hot himself envoloped in the inferno that ensued.At the moment,the family and members of Agbaja Nkporo community are mourning the deceased as the survivors are in excruciating pains''.
