 PSC Promotes Over 8,000 Police Officers On Wednesday, the Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of 8,053 senior police officers. Earlier in the week, 11 Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were elevated to the rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs). Additionally, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to DCPs, and 57 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) moved up to Assistant Commissioners (ACPs). According to a statement by the PSC's spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the total number of promotions included 1,348 Superintendents of Police (SPs) promoted to Chief Superintendents, 876 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) promoted to Superintendents, and 5,829 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) promoted to DSPs. Thunderstorm kills three Anambra pupils on football field Three male students of a private secondary school (name withheld) in Okpuno, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, have died while playing football on the school field. It was gathered that the incident happened late Saturday during rainfall which was accompanied by breeze and thunderstorms. According to eyewitness, the students were practising on the school’s pitch in preparation for a football competition before the lightning started. The eyewitness said about nine students were involved while six of them were rescucitated later at the school’s clinic where they were first rushed to. Recall that Mr Eazi proposed to Temi in April 2022. There have been reports that the duo secretly got married this year. Mr Eazi has now confirmed that he is married to Temi Otedola. Actor, Kelechi Udegbe, Survives Car Crash Nollywood actor, Kelechi Udegbe, has survived a car crash, which left his vehicle in tatters. The actor shared videos and photos of the crash on his Instagram page on Sunday. Also sharing a video of him at the hospital, he wrote, "With immense gratitude to God almighty, I write these words with a heart full of mixed emotions.  "Just a few hours before the commencement of acting in the lead role in the ongoing film project of the illustrious and incomparable filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan, fate dealt an unexpected hand.  "I was involved in a ghastly accident that almost altered the course of my destiny in almost the blink of an eye, but God, the MASTER PERFORMER performed an unbelievable miracle and gave me a second chance at life.  "I made it out of the accident alive but suffered minor injuries.  I'm in good shape and will be back to doing what I enjoy doing best on your screen in a couple of days."

Lagos lady dies after drinking insecticide The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 39-year-old woman, Lilian Nwarache, who drank an insecticide on Friday in the Iwaya area of Lagos State. She was said to have been frustrated with having an illness. Nwarache was reported to have been suffering from a protracted illness and had been seeking a cure in a church in Iwaya, but became frustrated by the condition and drank a full bottle of insecticide on November 3, 2023. She was alleged to have tried to jump into a canal after drinking the insecticide, but was prevented by passers-by and was rushed to a hospital where a doctor confirmed her dead. The Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said three passports belonging to the deceased were found in her bag, alongside her Samsung phone. Cooking gas scarcity hits Lagos, Kano, Katsina, others Scarcity of Liquefied Petroleum Gas also known as cooking gas has hit Lagos and some other states in the country. The other affected states, according to findings by our correspondents are: Katsina, Sokoto, Delta, Kaduna and Kano. The rise in price of the commodity has been noticed since late last month, causing a continuous rise in prices, The PUNCH has learnt. The PUNCH had earlier reported how gas terminal owners increased price by 66 per cent in October alone. Price of 20 metric tons of cooking gas rose from N10m at the beginning of last month to N16 million as of late last month despite NLNG currently supplying 20MT of cooking gas to them at N9m. Market survey carried out by The PUNCH over the weekend, revealed that 12.5kg of cooking gas now sells for between N13,500 and N14,000 at the black market. Labour adamant on strike over Ajaero •NEC meets to take decision The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has commenced full swing mobilisation as its affiliates and state councils fine-tune plans to shutdown the nation on Wednesday. The NLC and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) had on Friday resolved to embark on a nationwide strike to protest attack on Mr. Joe Ajaero.
