 PSC Promotes Over 8,000 Police Officers On Wednesday, the Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of 8,053 senior police officers. Earlier in the week, 11 Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were elevated to the rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs). Additionally, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to DCPs, and 57 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) moved up to Assistant Commissioners (ACPs). According to a statement by the PSC's spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the total number of promotions included 1,348 Superintendents of Police (SPs) promoted to Chief Superintendents, 876 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) promoted to Superintendents, and 5,829 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) promoted to DSPs.  AFCON: Super Eagles goalkeeper, Nwabali misses training ahead of Angola clash Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, was missing as the rest of the squad trained on Monday. Nwabali had to be stretchered out during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations last-16 clash against Cameroon. The Chippa United keeper collided with Cameroon winger, Georges Nkoudou, during the encounter. He was replaced by former number one stopper, Francis Uzoho, who kept a clean sheet as Nigeria won 2-0 against the Indomitable. Nwabali’s absence will come as a worry for fans, who have been impressed by his confident and calm displays at the tournament.  Bad weather: NCAA warns airlines to be cautious The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has warned pilots and airline operators to exercise caution over a three-day dust haze lasting from Monday to Wednesday across the country. Acting Director General, NCAA, Captain Chris Najomo, gave the warning in a statement made available to newsmen in Lagos, on Monday. The aviation chief said that the warning was imperative in view of the weather report of the Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NIMET) released on Sunday. The weather report alerted the public on the possibility of deterioration in visibility as a result of observed dust haze propagated into the country. NiMet’s weather outlook predicted moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility range from 2km to 5km over the North.  Suspected arsonists set shops ablaze in Delta community Two youths in their early 20s in the early hours of Monday reportedly set ablaze a building housing eight shops along Palm-Groove Road in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State. They were said to have fled the scene immediately after they set the building on fire. One of the victims and owner of an eatery located within one of the shops told journalists that he “woke up around 3am as a result of the petrol smell.” The victim who would not want his name in print narrated how he saw the two suspected arsonists carrying out the act before fleeing

 SHARE - AMBER ALERT Lela Black, age 5, is missing. She is believed to be with her biological father, Byron Black, who has an arrest warrant for the murder of the juvenile's mother. He is suspected to be armed and dangerous. The suspect, Byron Black, is 42 years old with brown eyes and hair and is six feet tall. They could be traveling in a 1996 Chevrolet Silverado with the license plate 5J83779 and paint peeling off the hood. Anyone with information regarding this should contact KSP Post 2 at 270-676-3313.  Kano Hisbah Renews Pledge in Fighting Against HIV/AIDS Kano Hisbah board, has reiterated its commitment to partner with non-governmental organizations (NGOs), in the fight against HIV/AIDS. The Director General of the Board, Alhaji Abba Sa'id Sufi stated this while receiving members of a non-governmental organization (NGO), women's Health Empowerment and Emancipation Initiative (WHEEI), in his office. According to him, the board will provide the necessary assistance to the NGO, in creating awareness about the menace of HIV/AIDS, to women and youths. The Director-General stressed the imperative for Kano State Hisbah to support efforts aimed at enhancing community health status in accordance with the teachings of Islam. Binani’s challenge to Fintiri’s victory in the gubernatorial election held last year was previously dismissed by both the tribunal and the Court of Appeal. Following arguments presented by the parties involved, the five-member panel, headed by John Okoro, adjourned the case for judgment. During the proceedings, Binani’s main argument, as articulated by her counsel, Akin Olujimi, centered on the legality of the contentious declaration made by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Hudu Ari.  Over 100,000 children orphaned in Borno – Zulum The Borno state Governor, Babagana Zulum says more than one hundred thousand children have been orphaned more than decade-long insurgency.  Governor Zulum made this known during the foundation laying ceremony of an orphanage and seven other projects being constructed by Qatar Charity Foundation, in Maiduguri, the state capital.  He said the state government has resettled over one million displaced persons out of over three million devastated by the conflict.  “We have identified a total of over 100,000 orphans resulting from Boko Haram crisis.  FG To review movement of explosives Federal Government has called on manufacturers of mine explosives to address alleged leakages from their factories by tightening the security and logistics of its operations. The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Oladele Alake stated this at an emergency meeting with the manufacturers in his office in Abuja. He said there had been an outcry against easy access of unauthorized persons to explosives and indiscriminate storage across the country. Three men accused of stabbing teenager to death in UK arrested Three men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a teenager was found in a park in Feltham. According to the Met Police, officers were called at 07:40hrs on Thursday, 25 January to reports of an unresponsive man at Hanworth Park. The police said at the scene the body of 19-year-old Tyler Donnelly was found, as he had been stabbed and assaulted. “On Sunday, 28 January, three men, aged 21, 27 and 32, were arrested at different locations in London.  Abducted Lagos PDP chairman Philip Aivoji regains freedom Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Lagos Chapter, Philip Aivoji, has regained freedom four days after gunmen along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway abducted him.  Lagos PDP Publicity Secretary, Hakeem Amode, confirmed this in a terse statement on Monday. In an interview with The Honest Bunch podcast, Nedu Wazobia, Baba T confessed that his ex-wife first abused him with a heavy slap. Speaking on how he met his wife, Baba T revealed that he unexpectedly met his spouse and that their first s3xual encounter took place in the sitting room. In his words: “The first abuse I got was a big dirty slap.
