MORE NIGERIANS EXPECTED TO FALL INTO POVERTY BY 2027 – WORLD BANK. (PHOTO).

 More Nigerians expected to fall into poverty by 2027 – World Bank Despite Nigeria’s resources-rich status, more of the county’s citizens are expected to sink into poverty by 2027, the World Bank Group has said. This is contained in the World Bank’s Africa Pulse report released at the ongoing Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Washington DC, the United States. The report noted that sub-Saharan Africa has the highest extreme poverty rate globally, with a large share of the poor concentrated in a few countries. According to the Bretton Woods institution, about 80 percent of the world’s estimated 695 million extreme poor resided in the region in 2024, compared to 8 percent in South Asia, 2 percent in East Asia and the Pacific, 5 percent in the Middle East and North Africa, and 3 percent in Latin America and the Caribbean. ā€œWithin Sub-Saharan Africa, half of the 560 million extreme poor in 2024 resided in four countries,ā€ the report highlight...

9 DEAD,24 INJURED IN A TWIN BOMB BLAST TODAY IN CAMEROON.

                  Today sunday,it was confirmed that at least nine people were killed and 24 people were wounded in a twin bomb blast in northern Cameroon town of Kolofata.Regional prefect Babila Akaou said the two attacks took place close to the Latin neighbourhood of the twon before 9:00amArmy spokesman Colonel Didier Badjeck,who confirmed the death toll,said an investigation was underway amid diverging reports about whether the attacks were carried out by two teenage boys or two young women.Kolofata lies close to the border with northeast Nigeria and has repeatedly been the target of attacks by Boko Haram.

                            Today sunday,it was confirmed that by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria {NAHCON} has confirmed that three Nigerian pilgrims sustained minor injuries in the crane crash in Mecca's Grand Mosque in Saudi Arabia.The Chairman of the commission,Mallam Abdullahi Muhtar,who made this known at a news conference in Abuja,said that the victims were responding to treatment in the Holy land.Mukhtar,who did not name the victims,however said that two were from Kaduna and one from Gombe.He expressed deep shock over the sad incident but assured that it would not affect this year's exercise in any way.Media report had said that 103 people died and over 200 people were injured in the incident.''On the commission'spart,we have advised the various states pilgrims board not to allow their pilgrims to go close to the Grand Mosque for now.They have adhered strictly to our directive and it is yielding positiv...
