 First Lady of Nigeria, Remi Tinubu empowers 250 elderly in Anambra Nigeria’s first lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has empowered 250 vulnerable elderly indigents of Anambra State with N250,000 cash through her Renewed Hope Initiative Elderly Support Scheme, aimed at promoting the well-being of the elderly citizens and ensuring they live with dignity and joy. The scheme, themed ‘Finding joy in old age’, is in its third edition and it’s designed to support 250 vulnerable elderly citizens from the age of 65 and above in all the 36 states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory and veterans from the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association. According to the scheme, the total sum to be disbursed to the 9,500 targeted beneficiaries across the country is N1.9 billion, as approved by the Governing Board of the Renewed Hope Initiative. EFCC TODAY ARRESTED BAYELSA FORMER GOVERNOR TIMIPRE SYLVA,OVER N48 BILLION FRAUD.

             According to sources who confirmed the arrest said that,today thursday ''The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC,arrested Timipre Sylva,the former governor of Bayelsa state,following his refusal to honour invitations to answer charges over the allegations of fraud running into billions of Naira.The offence is said to have been committed while he served as the governor of Bayelsa state.He was picked up today at his Maitama,Abuja home''.More details later.More photos below.                                                                             

NOT LESS THAN 30,000 PEOPLE,TO MARCH TODAY IN JOHANNESBURG AGAINST XENOPHOBIA ATTACKS.

                    More than 30,000 people are expected to march through Hillbrow today against the recent scourge of Xenophobic attacks in Gauteng and Kwazulu Natal.The match is being organised by several civil society organisation.They said the march was to express an over whelming rejection of heinus Xenophobic acts.Atleast seven people have been killed in three weeks of the unrest,that have revived memories of Xenophobic bloodshed in 2008 when 62 people were killed mainly in Johannesburg town ships.UN Chief Ban Ki-Moon on wednesday condemned the violence and called for all efforts to be made to avoid future attacks.President Jacob Zuma has pledged to tackle anti-migrant sentiment in South Africa and to address deep rooted problems behind the attacks.One more photo below.                                               ...
