 October 1 protest: Ogun court restricts protesters to MKO Abiola Stadium, three other venues A High Court sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has restricted members of the #FearlessInOctober protest groups in the state to the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu; Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu Ode, and Ansar-Ud-Deen Comprehensive High School, Ota. The court presided by Tajudeen. A.Okunsokan gave this order following an application brought by the Attorney-General of Ogun State in suit no AB/667/2024, and with Messers Afolabi Adeboye, Ifemosu Michael, Lekan Soneye (for themselves and members of the#FearlessInOctober protests); Bestman Okereafor (on behalf of the Progressive Students Movement), Francis Adeyanju (on behalf of the National Association of Nigerian Students) and Thomas Kehinde (on behalf of the National Association of Ogun Students), as respondents. A SOUTH SUDANESE JOURNALIST MOI,SHOT DEAD IN JUBA.

              The  Journalist is identified as Peter Julius Moi,he works for the Independent New Nation newspaper in Juba,was shot dead as he headed home after work.Resident of the area where he was shot,is a field southwest of the capital,said Moi was shot with two bullets in the back and none of his belongings,including his mobile phone,had been taken.President Salva Kiir warned journalists before flying to peace talks in Ethiopia.''The freedom of press does not mean that you work against your country.And if anybody among them does not know this country has killed people,we will demonstrate it one day on them''.Is just a pity,how a mans life is just wasted for nothing.

A NIGERIAN DOCTOR OSONUGA,SHORTLISTED TO TRAVEL TO SPACE.

                                                                             According to sources,a Doctor identified as Freeman Osonuga has been shortlisted as one of the lucky human being to travel to space.He was selected through the Rising Star programme,which was launched at the One Young World Summit 2014 in Dublin.The Programme invited both One Young World ambassadors and outstanding members of the public aged 18-30 to nominate themselves to take on the trip of a lifetime.If selected for the programme one will not only embark on a once in a lifetime flight to space but will also be offered a three year management contract.He will be the first black African to fly to space.Osonuga is a 2015 WIRED Innovation fellow.He will be speaking live on stage at WIRED 2015 conference in October in London.Sources further said that in late 2014,at the peak of the Ebola epidemic in West Africa,he worked as a volunteer with the Africa Union team of Ebola responders for 6 months in Sierra Leone.F

45 FILING STATIONS IN KANO,SHUT DOWN TODAY FOR SELLING ABOVE PUMP PRICE.

                 I just got an information that the Department of Petroleum Resources,DPR in Kano,has clamped down on 45 filing stations for selling petroleum products above regulated pump prices,mutilation of dispensing pump,diversion,hoarding and under delivery of petroleum products,especially the Petroleum Motor Spirit,PMS.DPR Zonal Operation Comptroller incharge of Kano and Jigawa,Alhaji Isah Tafida warned those smuggling PMS from Niger Republic and other neighbouring countries to desist from such criminal act,saying that DPR will not hesitate to hand them over to security agencies for proper prosecution if caught.He also carried journalists along in the surveillance exercise conducted today thursday state that out of the 45 filling stations found wanting,23 sold PMS above approved pump price,four were closed down for hoarding and five were shut down for diversion.12 filling stations were sealed for using faulty pumps.He said the 36 filling stations sealed uo will pay the sum of N1

DR BABATUNDE FOWLER,APPOINTED AS THE NEW FIRS CHAIRMAN BY PRESIDENT BUHARI.

                                                          Dr William Babatunde Fowler,appointed as the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service {FIRS}by the President of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari.Dr Fowler was the Chief Executive Officer/Executive Chairman of the Lagos state Board of internal Revenue from 2005 to 2014.Under his leadership,the Lagos state Board of Internal Revenue reportedly achieved a sharp increase in internally generated revenue from an average of N3.6.billion per month in January 2006,to an average of about N20.5 billion per month in 2013.He will serve as acting Executive Chairman of FIRS until his appointment is confirmed by the senate.President Buhari has also appointed Mr Aliyu Yahaya Gusau as Director General Budget Office of the Federation.Mr Gusau's appointment is with effect from August 18,2015 ans is for a term of four years,renewable for another four years.

PRESIDENT OF BURUNDI NKURUNZIZA,SWORN IN SECRETLY TODAY.

        It came as a shock to everybody when the President of Burundi Pierre Nkurunziza was sworn in today secretly.His inauguration ceremony was really a low key affair.According to several ministries,they were informed about the swearing in ceremony few hours before the ceremony today.It was widely expected that the ceremony would take place on the 26th of August 2015.President Nkurunziza said in his oath ''To dedicate all my forces to the defence of the best interests of the nation,to assure national unity and the cohesion of the Burundian people,social peace and justice''.His third term in office was highly condemned by the people of Burundi,which they termed as unconstitutional by the opposition and it also provoked months of protests.One more photo below.
