PSC PROMOTES OVER 8,000 POLICE OFFICERS. (PHOTO).

 PSC Promotes Over 8,000 Police Officers On Wednesday, the Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of 8,053 senior police officers. Earlier in the week, 11 Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were elevated to the rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs). Additionally, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to DCPs, and 57 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) moved up to Assistant Commissioners (ACPs). According to a statement by the PSC's spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the total number of promotions included 1,348 Superintendents of Police (SPs) promoted to Chief Superintendents, 876 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) promoted to Superintendents, and 5,829 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) promoted to DSPs.                   The Lagos State Government on Sunday unveiled its roadmap targeted at maintaining and rehabilitating roads across the State as well as comprehensive drainage maintenance and flood control programme between August and December 2017. Recently appointed Special Adviser to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Public Works and Drainages, Engr Temidayo Erinle, who reeled out the roadmap at a press briefing held at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre in Alausa, said in the coming days, the State Government, through the Public Works Corporation, would carry out rehabilitation works on 43 major link roads across the State, while other major highways and arterial roads found to be in bad state would be fixed.               According to BBC, Vijender Singh, an Olympic medallist, beat Zulpikar Maimaitiali on Saturday, winning the WBO Oriental Super Middleweight belt from him. But he dedicated his win to the "India-China friendship", and said he wanted to give the belt back. India and China have been feuding over a disputed border area since June. The row erupted when India opposed China's attempt to extend a border road through a plateau known as Doklam in India and Donglang in China. Mr Singh, 31, has been widely praised in India for his win in the much-anticipated fight in Mumbai. But some appear not to share his message of reconciliation.                Zimbabwe’s main opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai on Saturday reunited with his former allies to agree a pre-election pact to challenge President Robert Mugabe’s near four-decade hold on power at the polls next year. YOUTH FARMERS OVER-SUBSCRIBE TO KWARA GOVERNMENTS ESTATE FARMS.

          The 2550 hectares of land secured for farming activities by the Kwara State government under its Off-takers Demand Driven Agriculture (ODDA) scheme have been oversubscribed by youth farmers in the State. The State Commissioner for Agriculture, Bamidele Adegoke, who disclosed this in Ilorin, expressed delight that more youth are showing interest in agriculture. He added that people need to consider agriculture as a busi ness venture. Adegoke also clarified that the State government is not acquiring land from communities for the estate farm development, but collaborating with communities that are willing to provide land for farming activities. He listed the communities where the government had secured land for the estate farms to include Oke-oyi, Ejidongari, Esie, Agbamu, Reke, Malete, Alateko, Ekan, Ballah, Isin, Share, Shonga, Bode-Saadu and Owode-Ofaro.                          International president Jewish voice ministries,Rabbi Jonathan Bernis and his team stormed Nnewi to present confirmatory and DNA tests on the claims that the Igbos are of Israeli descent. They were received by the chairman Caretaker committee, Nnewi North ,Prince Chukwudi Orizu, at Messianic Faith Assembly, Uruagu Nnewi. Ngozi Obileri reports that this is their fourth visit to Anambra state in their quest to find the lost children of Israel. GUNMEN KILLED OVER 11 WORSHIPPERS AT ST PHILIP'S CATHOLIC CHURCH IN OZUBULU,ANAMBRA STATE TODAY.{PHOTOS}.

          Some Gunmen stormed the St. Philip's Catholic Church this morning around 6am this morning (06 August 17) and opened fire on them killing over 11 worshippers most of which were women and children and 25 injured. According to our correspondent who was at the scene of the incident, the gunmen were said to have gained entry into the church edifice in search of a  South African-based indigene of the community popularly known as "Bishop"  {High Chief Aloysius Ikegwuonu,who was said to have built the church. When they couldn't find him, they opened fire killing almost everyone in the church sanctuary while some members escaped with various degrees of injury.Governor Obiano promised to pay the hospital bills of victims.Details later.More photos below.

                   Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Friday evening said the State Government spent over N15billion last year to beef up security and ensure the safety of lives and property. Governor Ambode, who spoke at a dinner held at the Lagos House in Ikeja, in honour of the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, who was on a two-day working visit to the State, said security, being one of the tripods upon which his administration is built, has improved drastically since he assumed office. He attributed the development to the sustainability of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), a template, he said has helped to champion funding of security agencies to carry out effective policing across the State.
