 PSC Promotes Over 8,000 Police Officers On Wednesday, the Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of 8,053 senior police officers. Earlier in the week, 11 Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) were elevated to the rank of Commissioners of Police (CPs). Additionally, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were promoted to DCPs, and 57 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) moved up to Assistant Commissioners (ACPs). According to a statement by the PSC's spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, the total number of promotions included 1,348 Superintendents of Police (SPs) promoted to Chief Superintendents, 876 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) promoted to Superintendents, and 5,829 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) promoted to DSPs.       On the 29/11/2019 at about 8:10 pm following a distress call,Police operatives attached to Operations Kpochakpu II Obunike Divisiion and Otoucha Area Command in conjunction with Vigilante group arrested one Oluebubechukwu Isaac 'm' aged 20 years of Azu Ogbunike and Ekezie ifeanyi 'm' aged 19 years of Osile Ogbunike village all in Oyi LGA of Anambra State. 2. Suspects allegedly went to a barbing saloon located at No.3 Olisakwe crescent Azu Ogbunike and robbed all the customers inside the Saloon of their belongings including handsets, jewelleries and other valuables at gunpoint. 3.       - Clears several Boko Haram staging areas. In continuation of Operation YANCIN TAFKI, The Multinational Joint Task Force has successfully conducted a multi-sector link up operation involving troops from Chad, Niger Republic and Nigeria. The operation cleared terrorists who have been hibernating in Arege and Metele and Duguri, thereby enabling troops of Sector 2 (Chad) and Sector 3 (Nigeria) to link up with their counterparts in Sec tor 4 (Niger) around the Kamadougou River. In the course of the link up operation Boko Haram Terrorists suffered severe human and equipment losses, as 13 terrorists were killed, while many others sustained injuries.       No fewer than 70 houses built on unapproved sites within the Lekki-Ajah axis will be pulled down, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, pronounced on Saturday. The affected structures, most of which have been completed by their owners, are built on the right of way of tertiary canals and access roads. Sanwo-Olu led the Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, and members of the State Executive Council on an inspection of regional roads and waterfronts in Lekki and Victoria Garden City (VGC), saying that the developers of the properties on the inspected areas recklessly built their structures on unapproved sites and illegally embarked on development that encroached on statutory alignments and setbacks.      Lagos State Government has adjusted the 2019/2020 closing and resumption dates for schools in the State, emphasising that the new dates only affect public primary schools. A statement issued by the Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy noted that the closing and resumption date earlier given for private schools and government secondary schools remain unchanged, hinging the change in dates for public primary schools on the need to implement extensive retraining of teachers and prepare them for the 2020 session. "Please note that the curriculum of Lagos State private and public schools is not affected in any way by these changes and Lagos State will continue to implement her existing curriculum across the State”, the statement added. Search was conducted on the tricycle leading to the recovery of one Pump Action gun and Seven live cartridges. 3.       The General Manager, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, Mr. Olajide Oduyoye has condemned the continued attack on the officers of the Agency in the discharge of their official duties and responsibilities. He disclosed that the Agency lost one of its officers, Ola Oyeshina, in the early morning hours of today after he was attacked with a large stone while on duty by two individuals on Friday at Apapa, Lagos. According to him, “The officer was on duty at Iganmu-Sifax axis of Apapa around 5 pm on Friday, 29th November, 2019 when he was attacked with large stones by two men. He was immediately rushed to the hospital after the incident and the suspects arrested. However, due to the extensive injuries suffered and the resultant trauma, Ola Oyeshina gave up the ghost in the early hours of Saturday.       Government of Anambra State has declared free transportation for commuters within the State starting from December 1, 2019 to January 5, 2020. The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Transport Company Of Anambra State, TRACAS, Dr Ifeoma Madukasi stated this while addressing the Press at the Company's Head Office in Awka. The designated routes include Awka to Onitsha by Old Road, Eke Awka to Head bridge, Awka to Onitsha by Express to Upper Iweka, Awka to Otuocha by Aguleri Junction. Others are Onitsha to Ogbaru by LGA Headquarters, Awka to Nnewi by Nkwo Nnewi Triangle and Awka to Oko, Ekwulobia to Onitsha.
