APPLE'S STATEMENT ON MINERALS MUST BE 'VERIFIED'-DRC. (PHOTO).

 Apple's statement on minerals must be 'verified': DRC International lawyers for the Democratic Republic of Congo welcomed Apple's decision to stop sourcing minerals from there due to worsening conflict, but said they would press ahead with their cases against the company in Europe. Criminal complaints were filed against Apple subsidiaries in France and Belgium this week on behalf of DR Congo, accusing the tech firm of using conflict minerals in its supply chain, Reuters reported. DR Congo is a major source of tin, tantalum and tungsten, so-called 3T minerals used in computers and mobile phones. But some artisanal mines are run by armed groups involved in massacres, rapes and other crimes, say UN experts and rights groups. 'Satisfaction and caution' Apple said on Tuesday that it strongly disputes the claims and has told suppliers they must not use the minerals in question sourced from DR Congo or Rwanda. Bashir El-Rufai, one of the sons of Kaduna Governor and his wife have welcomed twin boys. According to Bashir, his wife and babies are in good health condition. Bashir wedded Halima Kazaure, daughter of former Jigawa Senator Ibrahim Kazaure on November 21, 2020 in Abuja. The wedding was attended by many dignitaries including Senate President, Ahmad Lawan; former emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II; Jigawa Governor Badaru Abubakar; Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni and others. “Alhamdulillah. My wife just gave birth to beautiful identical twin boys. Mother is doing great. Father is ecstatic. Thank you Allah. It was all you,” Bashir tweeted.

Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA) has resumed its enforcement and monitoring exercise following the short break during the 2021 end of the year holiday and restated its determination to rid the State of illegal developments.  The General Manager of LASPPA, Mr. Kehinde Osinaike, disclosed that the Authority has now extended the enforcement and monitoring exercise to the Oshodi area of the State following the conclusion of the exercise in Opebi/Allen axis of Ikeja.  He explained that during the concluded exercise at Ikeja, property that violated the Town Planning Laws were sealed while buildings that were initially sealed but unlawfully unsealed without official authorisation were partially resealed, including shops on road setback. Intercepts UK, Saudi-bound cocaine concealed in synthetic hair Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have raided a relaxation centre, popularly called garden in Abuja and arrested six persons for selling drug cookies and noodles. Following credible intelligence, operatives raided the garden at Wuse Zone 5 behind Shoprite, where a lady Rachael Famiyesun, 29, who deals in drug cookies was arrested along with her salesgirl, Stella Sunday, 20. Beside the cookies, they were also caught selling bottles of black currant drink popularly called Zobo prepared with cannabis. Another business operator in the garden, Moses Obi, 30, was also arrested with his salesgirl, Aisha Abdulrahman, 19, for selling indomie noodles prepared with cannabis.
