 Apple's statement on minerals must be 'verified': DRC International lawyers for the Democratic Republic of Congo welcomed Apple's decision to stop sourcing minerals from there due to worsening conflict, but said they would press ahead with their cases against the company in Europe. Criminal complaints were filed against Apple subsidiaries in France and Belgium this week on behalf of DR Congo, accusing the tech firm of using conflict minerals in its supply chain, Reuters reported. DR Congo is a major source of tin, tantalum and tungsten, so-called 3T minerals used in computers and mobile phones. But some artisanal mines are run by armed groups involved in massacres, rapes and other crimes, say UN experts and rights groups. 'Satisfaction and caution' Apple said on Tuesday that it strongly disputes the claims and has told suppliers they must not use the minerals in question sourced from DR Congo or Rwanda. CAN Disowns Letter Written On Governorship Election In Kaduna The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kaduna State chapter, has refuted what it called “a fake letter, circulating on social media and other platforms in the name of CAN for Christians to vote for a particular political party in the governorship election in the state. CAN noted that the address, signature, letterhead, content, mode and pattern of writing is not written by CAN, saying that it is meant to tarnish the image of the body of Christ in the state. The aim of the fake letter, according to Rev. John Joseph Hayab, in a statement issued on Tuesday, said, “Why? Court Adjourns Ex-Air Chief, Amosu, Others’ Alleged N21bn Fraud Trial Till June 7 Justice C.J. Aneke of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, adjourned till June 7, 2023 further hearing in the alleged N21bn fraud involving a former Chief of Air Staff, Adesola Amosu, and two others. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,  EFCC,  on Tuesday,  November 13, 2018, re-arraigned Amosu  alongside  Air Vice Marshal Jacob Bola  Adigun, a former Chief of Account and Budgeting, and Air Commodore Gbadebo Owodunni, a former Director of Finance and Budgeting on an amended  13-count charge bordering on money laundering to the tune of N21bn. The defendants are being prosecuted for alleged conspiracy  and  conversion  of the funds belonging to the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, to the their personal use.

 Court Grants INEC’s Request To Reconfigure BVAS Machines 8, 2023 The Court of Appeal has granted INEC permission to reconfigure BVAS. The Court of Appeal granted INEC’s request because the electoral body said all data in BVAS machines would be transferred to a back end server before they are reconfigured and will not be tampered with. The Applicants have also been granted permission to inspect BVAS. The court also ordered INEC to allow the Applicants to inspect and carry out digital forensic examination of all the electoral materials used in the conduct of the elections, as well as to avail them the Certified True Copy, of result of the physical inspection of the BVAS. The INEC deposed in their affidavit that the accreditation data will not be tampered with.

He is shocked by the incident.  Mr. Governor, on behalf of the government, genuinely shares their grief. He has ordered a probe into the fire, which emergency workers have put out.  Besides, Mr Governor implores Lagosians to desist from attributing the unfortunate incident to any political party or its agents. I am on the ground in Akere Market, Ifelodun to assess the damage done by a fire allegedly set by an arsonist & political thugs.  This is most unfortunate. Our politics should be about ideas, not violence. Ajegunle people, do not be intimidated. We will rebuild together.  Lagos is built on harmony and cooperation, it is the center of excellence, despicable violence & fanning the flames of ethnic tension has no place in this beautiful state. -GRV. We have received with sadness the unfortunate incident at the Spare Parts Market, Akere in Olodi-Apapa, that was engulfed by an inferno in the wee hours of Wednesday, March 8, 2023. The immediate cause of the fire disaster is still to be established. The Chairman of the Council, Hon. Fatai Ayoola Ebie  was among the early callers to the scene after rushing to see for himself the extent of the damage as soon as he got wind of the incident. While at the scene, he sympathized with the traders, appealed for calm, ordered an investigation into the remote cause of the incident and assured the traders of government's resolve to rebuild the market. The Chairman has also gotten in contact with the executives of the market association. The Local Government legislators are also billed to visit the scene later today. Fire guts Akere spare parts market in Lagos There was a fire outbreak at the Akere Spare Parts Market in Olodi-Apapa, Ajegunle area of Lagos State on Wednesday morning. The fire destroyed properties worth millions of naira. The cause of the fire is still unknown as of the filing of this report,but the rumours going round is not what I want to mention here on my blog because it might cause a riot because it involves two major tribes in Nigeria and who they voted for. According to reports, the fire started around 3:am on Wednesday morning. Watch video below and More photos below.
