STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE PRESIDENT TINUBU TO ATTEND SUSTAINABILITY SUMMIT IN ABU DHABI   President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Saturday, January 11, to participate in the 2025 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2025).   His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, invited President Tinubu to attend the Summit, which will take place in the emirate from January 12 to 18.   The Summit will bring together global leaders to accelerate sustainable development and advance socioeconomic progress.  Two Edo Fire Service Officials Hospitalized After Building Collapse in Benin City


Two fire service officials in Edo State have been hospitalized after sustaining injuries in a building collapse while responding to an emergency.

The incident occurred early Friday at the Evbuotubu community in Benin City, as the officials were battling a fire that had engulfed the structure.


According to eyewitnesses, the building collapsed on the officials during their firefighting efforts.


As of the time of this report, it remains unclear whether the injured personnel belong to the Edo State Fire Service or the Federal Fire Service.


When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Fire Service in Edo, Deputy Superintendent Asimu Sumaila, stated that he was yet to be briefed on the incident. He assured reporters he would provide updates after receiving details from the operational team.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
