 President Trump awarded inaugural FIFA Peace Prize at World Cup draw in Washington  Gianni Infantino, the FIFA President presented the honour onstage at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, saying Trump had been selected “in recognition of his exceptional and extraordinary actions to promote peace and unity around the world”. “This is your prize, this is your peace prize,” Infantino said, after Trump took the stage to accept the trophy, a medal and certificate. “There is also a beautiful medal for you that you can wear everywhere you want to go.”   FIFA says the prize is for “individuals who help unite people in peace through unwavering commitment and special actions”.  Accepting the award, Trump called it “one of the great honours of my life”, before claiming to have “saved millions and millions of lives – the Congo is an example, over 10 million people killed and it was heading for another 10 million very quickly. LAWMA LAGOS WASTE MEN AUTHORITY PRESS STATEMENT 

LAWMA DISSOCIATES ITSELF FROM UNAUTHORISED USE OF ITS UNIFORM AND TRUCK IN VIRAL VIDEO. 

 The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) is aware of a recently circulated video featuring some entertainers wearing LAWMA uniforms and using one of the Authority's operational trucks without any form of approval. We wish to clearly state that LAWMA had no knowledge of, and did not grant permission for, the use of its uniforms, truck, or any other official asset for the said recording. The context and content of the material. particularly its lewd and inappropriate expressions do not in any way reflect the values, mandate, or public-facing image of the Authority. Preliminary findings suggest that this incident may have been facilitated with the involvement of at least one staff member. An internal investigation is already underway, and appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken in line with civil service rules. LAWMA has always maintained a cordial relationship with the creative community. Over the years, we havecollaborated with filmmakers, artists, and content creators who approached the Authority through the proper channels. We recognise the importance of thecreative industry and remain open to partnerships that promote environmental awareness and public good. However, we will not condone the misuse ofgovernment assets, nor the portrayal of the Authority in a manner capable of misleading the public or undermining our work. Our uniforms and operationalvehicles represent essential public services, and their use must remain consistent with the law and the values of Lagos State. We urge the public to disregard any impressions created by the video. LAWMA remains committed to upholding professionalism, maintainingpublic trust, and delivering quality waste management services across the state.
