His execution would mark the 18th in Florida this year, surpassing any single-year total by a governor in the state since the death penalty was reinstated in 1976. The previous record was eight executions in 2014. Gerald was sentenced to death in 1990 for the murder, armed robbery, burglary, and grand theft auto connected to the death of Tressa Pettibone. The Florida Supreme Court initially vacated his sentence but upheld the conviction, and he was resentenced to death in 1993.  Bandits Kill Two Farmers In Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State Two farmers were shot dead by bandits in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area, Kaduna State. According to Sahara Reporters, the attack occurred on Sunday morning near Mamman Yarwa village in Tabani Ward. A source confirmed that the victims were ambushed on their way to the farm and killed instantly. Concerned community members, noticing their prolonged absence and hearing gunshots, organized a search party.  Governor Alex Otti hails Soludo’s re-election as sign of public confidence   Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has described the re-election of Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra as a testament to the confidence the people of the state repose in him. Otti stated this in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Ferdinand Ekeoma, today in Umuahia. He said that Soludo’s landslide victory in the just-concluded governorship election reflected the trust and satisfaction of the electorate with his performance in his first term. The governor urged his Anambra counterpart to view his re-election as another opportunity to consolidate on the progress already recorded in the state. Otti also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting a hitch-free poll and for the prompt announcement of results.  Burkina Faso Halts South African Coach’s Planned Events Authorities in Burkina Faso have stopped events that were scheduled for November 8 by South African coach Nkulukeko, according to an official government source. The government stated that the decision was made because the country currently has “more urgent priorities for its people.” No additional information was provided regarding the nature of the planned events or any future arrangements.

 PRESIDENT TINUBU MOURNS JUSTICE MUKHTAR DODO President Bola Tinubu has expressed grief over the passing of Justice Mukhtar Muhammad Dodo (rtd), who died on Sunday at the age of 70.  In a statement Bayo Onanuga Special Adviser to the President, Information and Strategy, "the late jurist, who hailed from Katsina State, had a long and illustrious career in the Judiciary before his retirement.   He served as Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and later as a High Court judge of the Federal Capital Territory.   President Tinubu described the deceased as an upright judicial officer, a patriotic Nigerian and a fearless jurist who spent his life contributing to the strengthening of Nigeria’s judicial system.   The President while praying for the repose of the soul of the departed retired justice also prayed Allah to give his family the fortitude to bear the loss.   The President also extended his commiseration to the government and people of Katsina St...

 One Suspect Fatally Injured, Another Detained Following House Robbery Pursuit Two suspects believed to be involved in a string of house robberies and vehicle thefts in the Centurion and greater Pretoria areas were intercepted during a joint operation on Sunday, 09 November 2025. Information was received regarding a group of suspects operating in the region, traveling in a white VW Polo. Units were deployed in the Centurion and Monument Park areas to monitor their movements. The suspects were later spotted driving recklessly from Centurion towards Monument Park. Tactical teams pursued the vehicle, resulting in a high-speed chase. The suspects lost control and collided head-on with a civilian vehicle. One suspect sustained fatal injuries, while the second was transported to hospital under police guard with serious injuries.  Teenage Girl Arrested for Pouring Hot Water on Woman During Jealous Rage in Denstaat Village  A 17-year-old girl is expected to appear before the Senwabarwana Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 10 November 2025, facing a charge of attempted murder after she allegedly poured hot water on a 20-year-old woman and hit her with a bottle. The incident occurred on Friday, 07 November 2025, at around 21:00 in Denstaat village under the Alldays policing area in the Capricorn District. According to reports, the victim was asleep when the suspect woke her up and confronted her about photographs she allegedly found on her boyfriend’s cellphone. During the argument, the suspect allegedly poured hot water over the victim and struck her several times on the head and face with a bottle. The victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police were called to the scene and opened a case of attempted murder. The suspect was arrested shortly thereafter.

 Man Shot Dead While Working on Stolen Car in Philippi A young man was shot and killed on Sunday morning while working on a car at the corner of Stock Road and Govan Mbeki Drive, near the BP garage in Philippi, Cape Town. According to witnesses, the man was busy checking the engine with the bonnet open when another man approached and shot him in the head. He died on the scene. Another person who was nearby was also injured during the shooting and was taken to hospital for treatment. Police later discovered that the car the victim was fixing had been stolen. It is believed that the man who was killed may have been involved in the theft of the vehicle. Authorities are investigating the incident. The motive for the shooting has not yet been confirmed, and no arrests have been made.
