 Kebbi Govt Donates 10 Hilux Vehicles to Boost Security on Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway  The Kebbi State Government has handed over 10 brand-new Hilux vehicles to the Federal Ministry of Works to strengthen security for personnel working on the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway project. The vehicles were formally received by the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, who praised Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasiru Idris (Kauran Gwandu), for the donation. Goronyo described the gesture as a clear demonstration of the state government’s commitment to protecting workers and contractors on the strategic highway corridor. According to The Hindu’s report on Friday, the Bagalkot district police arrested a 47-year-old Nigerian, Oliver Okechukwu, on charges of duping a woman of ₹5.5 lakh (about N9.5m) under the pretext of marriage. Bagalkot Superintendent of Police Siddarth Goel confirmed the arrest, saying the suspect was arrested by Bagalkot CEN police in Mumbai on Thursday. Investigations, according to the report, revealed that Okechukwu, who resides in Shivaji Nagar Bonkode Ganv, Khairane Thane, Mumbai, targeted women through matrimonial websites. The ICE, in a statement shared on its X page on Monday, disclosed that Oladimeji was ordered to pay $1.1 million in restitution before he was arrested. The terse statement read, “Nigerian criminal alien Rotimi Oladimeji’s criminal history includes mail and wire fraud. He was ordered to pay $1.1M+ in restitution before ICE New Orleans arrested him.” PUNCH Metro recalled that Oladimeji was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment by a US District Court in December 2023 for fraud. Melaye disclosed that the ADC now has over 100 Senators, both former and serving, and about 400 members of the House of Representatives, both serving and former.  Fuel price surges to N1,700 per litre in Calabar   The cost of Premium Motor Spirit (fuel) has hit 1,700 naira per litre in Calabar, the Cross River State capital. This follows the industrial action declared by the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG). The price rose astronomically within the metropolis as virtually all dispensing stations were under lock and key as a result of the strike. This has caused a very sudden rise in the number of black marketers of the product who are seen in most streets along the metropolis selling the product to helpless car owners. As of Tuesday afternoon, only black marketers were selling the product and there are fears the cost may hit 2000 naira per litre within the week if there is no speedy resolution to the dispute.  Serving Councillor Kidnapped In Southern Kaduna Regains Freedom A councillor representing Gwantu Ward in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Hon. David Ali Gwantu, who was abducted by armed bandits last Friday, has regained his freedom. Gwantu was taken from his residence in Gwantu town in the early hours of Friday, where the assailants stormed his home and whisked him away in front of his family.  He was released on Monday night after spending four days in captivity.

 The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, on September 8, 2025 received the newly remodeled Okokomaiko Divisional Police Headquarters building, courtesy of IHS (Nigeria) Limited, handed over by the Director of Sustainability.  Mrs. Titilola Oguntuga, who came with her team.  FG, Dangote Group, Labour in Fresh Talks Over Ongoing NUPENG Strike The Federal Government will today resume dialogue with the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers and the Dangote Group after an earlier deadlock. Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, says while major issues have been resolved, discussions will continue to address the few outstanding concerns.

 FCT MINISTER APPOINTS NANCY SABANTI NATHAN ACTING HEAD OF SERVICE Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike has appointed Mrs Nancy Sabanti Nathan as the Acting Head of Service of the Federal Capital Territory Administration. The appointment takes immediate effect. In a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media Lere Olayinka, Mrs Nancy was appointed in acting capacity, pending the appointment of a substantive Head of Service.  Until her appointment,  she was the Permanent Secretary, Youth Development Secretariat of the FCTA. She had served as the Director Finance and Administration in the office of the Minister of FCT before her appointment as Permanent Secretary.

 Pretoria man gets life for killing couples in a brutal home attack A 37-year-old Pretoria man has been sentenced to two life terms after he murdered a couple during a violent home invasion in January. The Pretoria High Court found Raymond Steven Jan-Erick Smith guilty of killing Grant Cantello and his wife Heidi at their family home in Proclamation Hill. Smith posed as a potential buyer after seeing the property listed online and visited the house three times before attacking on January 27. He tied up the elderly homeowners Gerald Cantello, 74, and Lilian Janson, 71, before fatally stabbing their son and daughter-in-law. A 16-year-old boy was also stabbed but managed to escape and call for help. Smith was arrested the next day while washing bloodstained clothes at his home. In court, he pleaded guilty and asked for a lighter sentence, but Judge ruled the murders were premeditated and offered no grounds for leniency. CULPABLE HOMICIDE CLAIMS LIFE OF 5-YEAR-OLD IN NAMAKGALE. (PHOTO).

 Culpable homicide claims life of 5-year-old in Namakgale A five-year-old girl from Nyakelane village in Phalaborwa was killed after being knocked down by a car in Namakgale, Limpopo, on Sunday afternoon. Police said the child was trying to cross Tshelang Gape Road near Makhushane Dairy when she was hit by a grey Hyundai Getz around 4.30pm. Paramedics declared her dead at the scene. The driver was not at the scene when police arrived but later reported the incident at the Namakgale police station. A case of culpable homicide has since been opened, and investigations are under way.
