 NFF has formally petitioned FIFA over allegations that the DR Congo fielded ineligible players during their decisive 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff encounter   Speaking with journalists at an event on Tuesday, Mohammed Sanusi, NFF general secretary, accused the Congolese FA of deceiving FIFA into clearing players for its national team despite their status contravening the country’s citizenship laws. Sanusi said DR Congo laws established that “you cannot have dual nationality”, adding that several members of the Leopards squad at the playoffs have both European and Congolese passports. He said the DR Congo FA was “fraudulent” in its registration of the players, and the NFF has submitted a petition to FIFA to investigate the matter.   “FIFA cleared the players because FIFA’s eligibility rule is different from DR Congo’s rule.  NAPTIP Rescues 2-Year-Old Trafficking Victim in Aba, Suspect Arrested The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has rescued a two-year-old girl, renamed Chiamaka Favor, who was trafficked from Abuja to Aba. The rescue operation, conducted by NAPTIP’s Abia Command on May 8, 2025, followed the arrest of a suspected trafficker by the Department of State Services (DSS). According to a statement posted on NAPTIP’s official Facebook page on Friday, the suspect allegedly sold the child for ₦100,000 and collaborated with three trafficking syndicates based in Abuja. The suspect has been handed over to NAPTIP for further investigation. NAPTIP is appealing to the public for help in reuniting the child with her biological parents, urging relatives to contact the agency promptly.  Seven dead after heavy rain hit Mogadishu on Friday  At least seven people have been killed in two districts of Mogadishu after a flood triggered by severe rainfall swept through the east African nation on Friday night, according to a government official. "We have now confirmed that at least seven people have died, including two women. The rain also collapsed nine houses and filled the houses of 200 families," Saleh Hassan, a spokesperson for the mayor of Mogadishu, said. Some infrastructure in Somalia's capital, including six major roads, was also damaged, hindering movement of people in the capital, according to Hassan. Among the dead was a young boy whose body was recovered from the debris on one of the damaged streets on Saturday. "I was hoping the water would spit him out but all was in vain. This morning, my friends joined me with hammers and spades and we managed to remove his body," local resident Nuradin Mohammed told Reuters on Saturday.
