 The UK government has rejected a request by the Nigerian government to deport former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, who was convicted of organ trafficking, TheGuardian UK reports on Monday.  Recall that a high-level delegation sent by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu met with officials at the UK Ministry of Justice (MoJ) on November 10, 2025 to discuss Ekweremadu’s case.  Ekweremadu, 63, is serving a sentence of nine years and eight months after being found guilty in 2023 of conspiring to exploit a man for his kidney.  Tanzania to start constructing new port in December, official says Tanzania will start construction of a new port in the east of the country in December, a senior government official said, ending a decade of delays due to government objections to the initial contract terms agreed with foreign developers. Bagamoyo port, a part of the large-scale special economic zone initiative involving industrial parks and rail and road links, is located about 75 km (47 miles) north of the commercial capital, Dar es Salaam.  Sometimes I envy writers and filmmakers from the South East and South South. The creatives in these two regions truly understand the art of storytelling, especially when it comes to passing information and documenting history. I’ve read many books and watched several movies that talk about the Nigerian Civil War and its aftermath, stories of communities affected by oil spillage, stories about human trafficking, and many others. These show how serious they are about telling their stories and preserving history for future generations. Even though some of those works may be one-sided or sometimes biased, at least they have made an effort to tell their own side. I remember in 2020 when some human rights organizations sponsored a movie titled Fatal Arrogance to tell the story of the Shiites’ massacre by the military in Zaria in 2015.
