Atiku Meets Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Saturday paid a visit to former President Goodluck Jonathan at his residence in Abuja. The encounter is their first since Jonathan returned from an election observation mission in Guinea-Bissau. Sharing pictures of the meeting on his verified social media platforms on Sunday, Atiku wrote, “It was a pleasure catching up with former President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday evening, following his recent return from Guinea-Bissau.” Jonathan, who served as President from 2010 to 2015, lost his re-election bid in 2015 to Muhammadu Buhari. The visit comes days after Atiku’s official defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), having resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party over claims that the party had strayed from the principles of its founding fathers.  Russia opposes EU forces in Ukraine and fast-tracked Zelenskyy talks Russia on Wednesday rejected the deployment of European peacekeeping forces in Ukraine and downplayed the likelihood of a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, casting further doubt on prospects for a peace deal. U.S. President Donald Trump has recently met with both Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin in an effort to end the war, which has now stretched beyond three and a half years. However, Moscow has shown little willingness to compromise. Ukraine continues to seek Western-backed security guarantees as part of any settlement to prevent future Russian attacks, while Russia insists that Kyiv cede additional territory in the east. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov described the idea of European peacekeepers as “negative,” framing NATO’s military presence in Ukraine as a “root cause” of Russia’s 2022 offensive. Peskov said security guarantees are a key topic in negotiations but refused...

When asked by attorney Andrew J. Thomas if she stood to gain anything from the case, Perry offered a one-word response: “Justice.” The pop star and former American Idol judge did not directly acknowledge potential financial gain, but she admitted she could lose money if the outcome went against her. Perry and her former partner, actor Orlando Bloom, purchased the upscale property in 2020. The seller, 85-year-old Carl Westcott, claims he lacked the mental capacity to agree to the sale and sued to undo the deal. Perry’s side — represented by her business manager, Bernie Gudvi — won the first trial in 2023, but Gudvi later countersued over alleged lost rental income and maintenance costs, prompting the current trial.
