Image
Christmas events return to Bethlehem after two years of Gaza war  Families filled John Juka’s long-quiet restaurant on Saturday evening, marking a dramatic shift from the past two years when Bethlehem’s streets sat dark, shuttered, and silent. Strings of red lights now glow across the city, reflecting a slow but meaningful return of Christmas traditions to the historic birthplace of Jesus in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. After years of upheaval following the Gaza war, residents say the renewed festivities offer a fragile but welcome sign of relief and resilience. Juka, who watched his family’s restaurant sit empty through two holiday seasons, described the moment simply: “It’s not like it was before the war, but it feels like life is coming back again.” Bethlehem’s identity and livelihood are deeply tied to tourism, with the majority of its residents depending on pilgrims and visitors to keep the local economy moving. When the war erupted after the Hamas-led attack on Israe...

DIDDY'S TRIAL JUDGE SEEMS TO BE WEIGHING VACATING RAPPER’S TWO CONVICTIONS. (PHOTO).

Image
Diddy's trial judge seems to be weighing vacating rapper’s two convictions The federal judge presiding over Sean “Diddy” Combs’ upcoming sentencing on the two lesser counts from his split verdict racketeering and sex trafficking trial is now considering the defense’s argument that his convictions should be vacated if a new trial is required. On Thursday, just over a week before Combs, 55, is scheduled to be sentenced for two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, Judge Arun Subramanian told the court he would issue a decision “very shortly” on the defense’s argument regarding the Mann Act and its application to Combs’ case. If no decision is issued, Subramanian noted he would reconvene the court next Friday. No announcement was made over the weekend. Combs’ legal team argued for a narrow interpretation of prostitution under the Mann Act, which holds that only those who engage in sexual acts or financially benefit from prostitution are criminally liable. They contend t...

UN REINSTATES SANCTIONS ON IRAN OVER NUCLEAR PROGRAM. (PHOTO).

Image
UN reinstates sanctions on Iran over nuclear program The United Nations reimposed sweeping sanctions on Iran early Sunday, intensifying pressure on the country’s already struggling economy as citizens face soaring food prices and widespread financial hardship. The move followed failed last-minute diplomatic efforts at the U.N. and triggered the “snapback” mechanism built into the 2015 nuclear deal. The sanctions took effect at 0000 GMT (8 p.m. Eastern) and will freeze Iranian assets held abroad, halt arms transactions, and penalize the development of Iran’s ballistic missile program. Iran’s withdrawal from nuclear monitoring agreements after the June war with Israel, combined with its stockpile of uranium enriched up to 60% purity, spurred France, Germany, and the United Kingdom to activate the snapback process. The economic toll on ordinary Iranians is severe, with the rial currency at record lows and inflation officially reported at 34.5% in June. The price of staple goods like ...

Image
Press Statement  FG Refutes False Claims of Religious Genocide in Nigeria    The Federal Government strongly condemns and categorically refutes recent allegations by certain international platforms and online influencers suggesting that terrorists operating in Nigeria are engaged in a systematic genocide against Christians. Such claims are false, baseless, despicable, and divisive.    Portraying Nigeria’s security challenges as a targeted campaign against a single religious group is a gross misrepresentation of reality. It oversimplifies a complex, multifaceted security environment and plays into the hands of terrorists and criminals who seek to divide Nigerians along religious or ethnic lines.    The violent activities of terrori...
