 Kebbi Govt Donates 10 Hilux Vehicles to Boost Security on Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway  The Kebbi State Government has handed over 10 brand-new Hilux vehicles to the Federal Ministry of Works to strengthen security for personnel working on the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway project. The vehicles were formally received by the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, who praised Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasiru Idris (Kauran Gwandu), for the donation. Goronyo described the gesture as a clear demonstration of the state government’s commitment to protecting workers and contractors on the strategic highway corridor. He explained that the vehicles will be deployed exclusively to security operatives providing cover for construction teams along the section of the super highway passing through Kebbi State.  US Urges Citizens to Reconsider Travel to Nigeria Over Insecurity, Poor Healthcare  The US has issued a Level 3 travel advisory for Nigeria, citing widespread insecurity, poor healthcare, and high risks of kidnapping and violence. Eighteen states, including Borno, Kaduna, Zamfara, and Rivers (excluding Port Harcourt), were flagged as extremely dangerous. The advisory warns that all parts of Nigeria carry significant security risks and urges US citizens to avoid high-risk areas and remain alert.

 Ogun, Rivers Top Death Row Inmate List — NCoS The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has identified Ogun and Rivers States as having the highest number of death row inmates, with 568 and 504 respectively out of 3,833 nationwide. Spokesman Abubakar Umar clarified that contrary to earlier reports, Kano, Kaduna, and Lagos are not the highest. He noted disparities stem from crime rates and judicial processes. Osun has no death row inmates, while Ebonyi and Oyo have two each.

 Sadly, another teen has taken his life due to an online sextortion scheme.  14-year-old Caleb Moore was a typical teenage boy living in El Dorado, Kansas.. He was the oldest of 5 children and set to start 8th grade in the fall.  Caleb took his own life on June 10th. His younger siblings (all 4) discovered him dying on the floor from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  This left Caleb's parents spinning out as they tried to cope with his untimely death. They wondered what had led to this point and have stated there were absolutely no outward signs Caleb was depressed or even stressed out. Caleb was a happy and nice kid.   During the ensuing investigation, a dark and heartbreaking story would emerge.  Police discovered that Caleb had fallen victim to an online sextortion scheme.  A Florida man has been indicted on homicide charges after authorities allege he repeatedly punched a 1-year-old girl, taking her life.  25-year-old Deric Young was indicted on charges of first-degree m*rder and aggravated child a**** with great bodily harm on Monday, July 21st. Young had previously refused to make his first court appearance on two separate occasions. These charges are in connection to the June 23rd death of Ky'meria German.  First responders were called to a Tallahasse home to the report of a child not breathing. Ky'meria was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was ultimately pronounced deceased.  As police began to investigate, they uncovered signs of what they believed to be foul play. An autopsy was performed the next day, revealing Ky'meria had suffered multiple strikes to the head with a closed fist.  A heroic 6-year-old girl saved her mother's life as she was being attacked by vicious dogs.  Lindsey Stroup, and her 6-year-old daughter Lily Goligowski, were having a normal day together in their Texas home on July 18th  when a shocking and horrific attack sent young Lily into hero mode. The two were dogsitting a pair of pit bulls for a friend. At around 7:30 a.m. the dogs began attacking each other. As Lindsey and Lily watched in horror, things went from bad to worse.  Both dogs turned their attention to Lindsey and lunged at the young mother. They quickly overpowered Lindsey and got her to the ground where they began mauling her.  Quick thinking Lily, knowing she would be of no use in the fight and would be in danger herself, grabbed her mother's cellphone and ran to the bathroom.  Kwara Courts Jail 11 for Internet Fraud The Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has secured the conviction and sentence of 11 fraudsters before Justices Mahmud Abdulgafar and Abimbola Awogboro of the Kwara State and the Federal High Courts, respectively, sitting in Ilorin. The convicts are, Mathew Stephen Yaba, Samuel Stephen Ayomide, Bamidele Favour Olajide, Isah Kadir, Abdulrasaq Jubril, Samuel Peter Juwon, Omolaiye Stephen Benefit, Kayode Emmanuel Opeyemi, Abdulrahim Lasisi, Ugwuadu Ikechukwu Michael and Moshood Abduljawad. All the defendants were tried before Justice Awogboro, barring Jubril who was prosecuted before Justice Abdulgafar. Their offences bordered on impersonation, obtaining under false pretence, retention of proceeds of crime and internet fraud.  CANADIAN COURT TO SENTENCE NIGERIAN TEACHER FOR BEATING STUDENTS A Canadian court has found a Nigerian teacher guilty of punishing students with a cane - calling it assault with a weapon.  Although it's normal for teachers to strike students with a cane in Africa, it is against the law in Canada and John Olubobokun now has a case to answer for beating nine students. Olubobokun, a former director of a private Christian school in Saskatoon, Canada - Legacy Christian Academy from 2003 to 2007 - was charged with beating nine students with a wooden paddle. The court heard testimonies from the students and ruled that how the teacher disciplined students negated Section 43 law of Canada. Olubobokun now awaits sentencing.

Okoye, who joined Italian Serie A side, Udinese, from English club Watford in 2023, was found guilty of betting fraud when he was given a yellow card for wasting time in a 2024 match between Udinese and Lazio. Authorities later found that thousands of people had betted that Okoye would be given a yellow card at 8/1 odds, with more than €120,000 generated in winnings. A June 2025 inquiry found the 25-year-old player guilty and he was handed a two-month ban. Analysts said he could have been given a four-year ban.
