The vehicles were formally received by the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, who praised Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasiru Idris (Kauran Gwandu), for the donation. Goronyo described the gesture as a clear demonstration of the state government’s commitment to protecting workers and contractors on the strategic highway corridor.  Lassa Fever: 21 States, 106 LGAs affected as cases hit 906 in Nigeria The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has confirmed that Lassa fever has claimed 168 lives across 21 states in 2025. In its situation report for epidemiological week 38, the agency revealed a total of 4,543 suspected cases, of which 897 were confirmed positive, with a case fatality rate of 18.7 per cent. The NCDC noted that four states, Ondo, Edo, Taraba, and Bauchi, remain the epicentres of the outbreak, accounting for 67 per cent of all confirmed cases. Ondo alone has recorded the highest burden, followed by Edo and Bauchi. Other affected states include Ebonyi, Benue, Kogi, Gombe, Plateau, Kaduna, Nasarawa, Enugu, Delta, Anambra, Rivers, Borno, Oyo, Ogun, the Federal Capital Territory, and Lagos.  Texas megachurch founder Robert Morris admits guilt in child sex abuse case Robert Preston Morris, the 64-year-old founder and former senior pastor of Gateway Church in Texas, pleaded guilty Thursday in Osage County, Oklahoma, to five counts of lewd and indecent acts with a child. The charges stem from repeated sexual abuse that began in 1982, when the victim was 12 years old and Morris was a traveling evangelist staying with her family in Hominy, Oklahoma. According to Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond, the abuse continued for four years. Morris, who resigned from Gateway Church last year after the allegations surfaced, entered the pleas as part of a deal that includes a 10-year suspended sentence, with the first six months to be served in the Osage County Jail. Ohio farmer, 85, loses 300 pumpkins to thieves An 85-year-old farmer in Pickerington, Ohio, is reeling after thieves stole hundreds of his prized pumpkins in late September. Terry Dunlap, owner of Sam’s Pumpkin Patch, discovered that roughly 300 pumpkins had been taken, a loss he estimates at more than $6,000. Many of the stolen pumpkins were among his most prized, featuring large, sturdy stems that set them apart. Dunlap first noticed the theft while checking his fields. “When I went in to spray, the vines were all knocked down and the pumpkins were all gone,” he said, suspecting the thieves struck under the cover of night. The farm, founded in 1988 with Dunlap’s late partner Sam Patterson, has been a long-standing community fixture.  A community is mourning 4 young Georgia men that lost their lives when they accidentally ran a red light while goofing around with their girlfriends.  Waiver Thompson, Shaun Miller, Adhonest Thomas, and Isaiah Ross were enjoying their Saturday evening with their girlfriends on September  27th. The four young men were traveling together in a vehicle while their girlfriends shared a vehicle that was just ahead of them before tragedy struck.  Authorities in Arkansas believe a man's camping trip ended abruptly when he was fatally attacked by a bear. Deputies in Newton County, Arkansas, received a call from the son of a 60-year-old Missouri man who was camping in the area. The victim's name has not been released at this time. According to the son, his father was camping at Sam's Throne. The son said it had been a couple of days since he had heard from his dad despite repeated attempts.  A deputy drove out to the campsite on Thursday, October 2nd, and discovered a disturbing scene. As he approached the campsite, he noticed the camp was in disarray. There were obvious signs a struggle had taken place; most disturbing of all, there were clear drag marks leading into the woods.  After following the drag marks for several yards, the deputy discovered the body of the victim.
