 Kebbi Govt Donates 10 Hilux Vehicles to Boost Security on Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway  The Kebbi State Government has handed over 10 brand-new Hilux vehicles to the Federal Ministry of Works to strengthen security for personnel working on the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway project. The vehicles were formally received by the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, who praised Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasiru Idris (Kauran Gwandu), for the donation. Goronyo described the gesture as a clear demonstration of the state government’s commitment to protecting workers and contractors on the strategic highway corridor.  TRAGEDY IN KARU: YOUNG MAN ENDS HIS LIFE, COMMUNITY IN SHOCK 8th September, 2025    A wave of grief has swept through Aso Pada in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State following the tragic death of a young man, Friday Haruna Kigbu, popularly known as Ewuga. Family sources confirmed that the incident occurred yesterday when Kigbu reportedly took his own life by hanging. No note was found at the scene, leaving relatives and friends heartbroken and searching for answers. His sudden passing has left the entire community in mourning. Neighbors and loved ones, still in disbelief, describe the tragedy as a painful loss that has cast a dark shadow over the area.

 Over 3.5 Million Nigerians Pre-Register for INEC PVCs in Three Weeks The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that more than 3.5 million Nigerians have successfully completed their online pre-registration for Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) since the nationwide exercise commenced on August 18, 2025. According to figures released on Sunday, September 7, the total number of pre-registrations now stands at 3,544,850, with participation recorded across all 36 states and the FCT. States Leading the Registration Drive The data shows Osun State topping the chart with 518,635 registrations, followed closely by Lagos State with 440,647 and Ogun State with 348,217. A MISSISSIPPI WALMART EMPLOYEE TOOK A MAN'S LIFE DURING AN IN STORE ALTERCATION. ( PHOTO).

 A Mississippi Walmart employee took a man's life during an in store altercation.  The Horn Lake Police Department were called to the Walmart on Goodman Road at 10:30 pm. on Sunday, September 7th. Upon their arrival, officers found 27-year-old Ledarius Clayton suffering from a stab wound. Clayton was rushed to Baptist DeSoto hospital, where he passed away from his injuries.  The unidentified Walmart employee was briefly detained while officers investigated the incident but was later released with authorities announcing no charges would be filed at this point. This decision came after authorities reviewed security footage showing Clayton entering the store and approaching the employee. Clayton then began acting aggressively before launching into an attack on the employee. At this point the employee withdrew his weapon and stabbed Clayton one time before walking away.

 A 24-year-old father of 3 drowned while trying to rescue friends whose boat capsized after his own boat capsized as the victims scrambled to get on board. Brandon Steele Jr. was fishing with 3 friends at a private pond in Georgia on August 24th when the awful incident occurred.  The 4 friends were fishing in two separate boats. As the friends fished, the second boat that was not carrying Brandon, began to take on water and started sinking. As his two friends struggled in the water, Brandon made his way over to them in his boat in an attempt to affect a rescue. As the two individuals in the water scrambled to get aboard Brandon's boat, they inadvertently caused the vessel to capsize. This left all four individuals in the water. However, one friend was able to swim to shore and call for help. The other two friends were able to stay afloat until they were rescued.  Two Texas student track athletes pass away within a month of each other.  Sadly, Gage Broomall, a sophomore at Odessa College, collapsed during cross country practice on Thursday, September 4th.  Despite immediate life-saving efforts, Gage did not survive.  There is no information on a cause of death at this time. This tragedy comes only weeks after another shocking  track and field related death in Texas.  On August 19th, 15-year-old Estafani Cabrera also passed away during cross country practice in Marshall, Texas.  According to reports, Estafani had just completed a 2 mile run during practice when she collapsed and possibly suffered a seizure. The heat index was 110 degrees in Marshall on August 19th. First responders arrived on scene at 4:05 p.m. and found Estafani unconscious and unresponsive.  A class 9 girl was allegedly raped inside a car by a man in Odisha’s Kandhamal district, police said on Sunday. According to officials, the incident took place on Friday evening after the girl had visited her elder sister’s house and later went to the Daringbadi market to watch the Ganesh Puja immersion procession. On her way home, she reportedly accepted a lift from a man who then allegedly raped her inside the vehicle, police said, citing the complaint filed at the Daringbadi police station. Police have recorded the statement of the survivor and conducted her medical examination as part of the investigation. The accused, who is a married man, is currently absconding. Police have launched a search operation to trace him.

 HORROR AT NATIONAL ASSEMBLY: DECOMPOSED BODY FOUND IN A CAR 8th September, 2025   Shock and panic gripped the National Assembly complex in Abuja on Sunday after the rotting body of a 55-year-old man was discovered inside a car parked near the annex gate. The deceased, identified as Gaddafi Iwar, a Tiv construction worker, was found slumped in a red Peugeot 406 with registration number BWR-577 BF around 9:00 a.m., his body already badly decomposed. Security operatives and health workers rushed to the scene, moving the corpse first to the National Assembly Clinic and then to Asokoro General Hospital. But doctors reportedly refused to admit the remains due to the advanced state of decay. In a dramatic turn, Tiv community leaders and youths ferried the body to Gbawu Village, on the AMAC–Kuje border, where he was hurriedly buried to prevent a health crisis.

 UN envoy holds talks with Libya's Haftar on single interim government The Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, Khalifa Haftar, met with UN envoy Hanna Serwaa Tetteh in Benghazi to review a new roadmap designed to advance the country’s political process. A statement from Haftar’s office said the discussions centred on the plan Tetteh outlined to the UN Security Council last month, Anadolu Agency reported. The proposal calls for the creation of a single interim government to prepare the ground for both presidential and parliamentary elections. The UN mission has been pressing for consensus in Libya to pave the way for elections. The UN mission, alongside Libya’s Presidency Council chaired by Mohamed al-Menfi, has been working to defuse tensions and keep preparations for elections on track. Unifying the military For years, the UN mission in Libya has led efforts to unify the military and has been mediating separate talks aimed at holding elections.

 Ibrahim Chatta loses godson, not biological son – Opeyemi Aiyeola Actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has clarified the confusion surrounding actor Ibrahim Chatta’s recent loss. Chatta’s initial Instagram post had led many to believe he had lost his biological son, drawing an outpouring of condolences from fans, friends, and colleagues. However, Aiyeola explained on Instagram that the deceased was Chatta’s godson, whom he loved deeply and treated like his own child. “Ibrahim Chatta didn’t lose his biological son but a godson, who is also like a son to him. Tension in SDP as INEC recognises Shehu Gabam-led National Executives …writes police to address crisis rocking the party The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has affirmed Alh Shehu Gabam-led National Executives of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) as the authentic leadership of the party. This was contained in a correspondence by INEC to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, requesting the names of the authentic officials of the party in a bid to address the age-long leadership crisis rocking the Party. The letter, which was signed by the Secretary to the Commission, Rose Oriaran-Anthony, was addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory.  Rhodes-Vivour’s defection to ADC hasty – LP The Labour Party on Sunday criticised its former Lagos governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, over his sudden defection to the African Democratic Congress, describing the move as hasty and ill-advised. Rhodes-Vivour, who flew the LP flag in the 2023 governorship election in Lagos, formally declared his switch to the ADC on Saturday at an event in Alimosho, Lagos State.  Egyptian slumps, dies in Abuja hotel An Egyptian, identified as 56-year-old Mohammed Saleh, has passed on while having dinner at the Abuja Continental Hotel in Wuse, Abuja. PUNCH Online gathered that the hotel’s Security Supervisor, Francis Yusuf, informed the police of the incident at about 9:24 pm, after Saleh slumped, the client who was reportedly having dinner with three of his companions at the hotel. Following the incident, our correspondent gathered that the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, from where he was referred to the Wuse District Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. The body has reportedly since been deposited at the hospital morgue for autopsy. As of the time of filing this report, the Police Public Relations Officer of FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh, has yet to react to the development, which will provide more details of the incident.
