 Atiku Meets Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Saturday paid a visit to former President Goodluck Jonathan at his residence in Abuja. The encounter is their first since Jonathan returned from an election observation mission in Guinea-Bissau. Sharing pictures of the meeting on his verified social media platforms on Sunday, Atiku wrote, “It was a pleasure catching up with former President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday evening, following his recent return from Guinea-Bissau.” Jonathan, who served as President from 2010 to 2015, lost his re-election bid in 2015 to Muhammadu Buhari. The visit comes days after Atiku’s official defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), having resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party over claims that the party had strayed from the principles of its founding fathers.  A shocking video was captured Monday morning in Indiana as an officer and a man in a motorcycle helmet have a tense standoff before stealing the officer's vehicle. The video was captured early Monday morning (April 21st) in Warrick County, Indiana shows an unidentified man battling it out with an officer. At one point the man brandishes a sword after a short chase where the man "juked" the officer and ran around the vehicle. The officer eventually fired on the man who was struck by one round. This did not slow the suspect down.  The man was able to back the officer off long enough to gain control of the police vehicle. He then took off in the vehicle and a police pursuit began.  According to reports the pursuit ended in Davies County Kentucky. Officials say the man was combative when exiting the vehicle and had to be tased. After being taken into custody officers discovered the man was suffering from a gunshot wound.  Popular musician’s grandson killed by scavenger in Ondo The grandson of the legendary African folklore music icon, Comfort Omoge, has been gruesomely killed during a violent confrontation with a scavenger in Ondo State. The victim, Ogoirawo Omoge, was fatally stabbed in the throat with a dagger by the scavenger along the Ayeka/Igodan-Igbokoda highway, Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state.   Man dies during wife’s 60th birthday in Lagos A man identified as Akinyele tragically slumped and died on Saturday during his wife’s 60th birthday celebration at an event centre in the Egbeda area of Lagos State. A viral video seen by our correspondent on Sunday captured the heartbreaking moment. In the footage, Akinyele was speaking on stage when he suddenly collapsed. Moments before the incident, he called his wife over and whispered a request for water. When she didn’t respond immediately, he gestured again, signalling his need for water. Seconds later, he slumped. He was said to have been quickly rushed to a nearby hospital after attempts to revive him at the venue failed. He was reportedly pronounced dead upon arrival. Efforts to confirm the incident with the Lagos State Police Command were unsuccessful, as the command’s spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, had yet to respond to messages sent to his mobile phone at the time of filing this report.

 Argentina legend Hugo Gatti is dead Legendary Argentina goalkeeper Hugo Gatti has died at the age of 80. Gatti was nicknamed El Loco or ‘The Madman’ because of his outspoken character and eccentric play style. He made more than 350 appearances for Argentinian giants Boca Juniors and has been credited as being the first goalkeeper to wear gloves. He was part of the Argentina side that competed at the 1966 World Cup in England and made 18 appearances in all for the three-times. Recent reports claimed that Gatti took ill after a recent hip surgery. According to the Sun, the former stopper was taken to intensive care after contracting pneumonia. Gatti was operated on after injuring himself in a fall while walking his dog, the report claimed. Gatti holds the record for the most appearances in the Argentine top flight, with 765 matches played.  GT Bank driver Mohammed Abo’ore stabbed to death while assisting security officials The Police Command in Niger has confirmed a stabbing incident that resulted to the death of a community member, Mohammed Abo’ore in the Fadikpe area of Minna. The Police Public Relations Officer in Niger, Waisu Abiodun, confirmed this in Minna on Monday. He said that the victim was assisting members of vigilance group in apprehending miscreants who were smoking cannabis in the area. Abiodun added that during an arrest attempt, one of the suspects, Nura Buhari, stabbed Abo’ore with scissors and escaped. He noted that Abo’ore was rushed to General Hospital Minna, where he was pronounced dead. He said one suspect, Abdullahi Rabiu, was arrested and is currently under investigation and assisting the police with further information to help track the fleeing suspects.  Alleged Drug Dealer Arrested at Lebowakgomo Taxi Rank A 31-year-old male suspect is expected to appear at the Lebowakgomo Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, 22 April 2025, following his arrest on Sunday afternoon, 20 April 2025, at around 16:30. According to police reports, members of the Provincial Flying Squad were conducting their routine duties when they noticed the suspect engaging in suspicious activity at the Lebowakgomo taxi rank. Officers kept a close watch on him before approaching and conducting a search. The suspect was allegedly found in possession of drugs with an estimated street value of R4,000.  27 Suspects Arrested During Operation Vala Umgodi in Barberton A total of 27 suspects, aged between 20 and 47, were arrested at Extension 11 in the Barberton area during a recent police operation known as Operation Vala Umgodi. Among those arrested, eleven are undocumented foreign nationals. During the operation, one suspect was found in possession of explosives, while another was found with ammunition. All suspects are expected to appear at the Barberton Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, 22 April 2025. More photos below.

 Keyamo Denies Claims of Fixed Concession Duration for Enugu Airport The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, has refuted media reports claiming that the Federal Government has finalized a concession duration for Akanu Ibiam International Airport (AIIA) in Enugu. The clarification follows recent scrutiny of the airport after Air Peace suspended flights due to infrastructural issues, prompting the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to temporarily close the facility for emergency runway repairs. In a statement issued on Monday by Tunde Moshood, Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Keyamo described the report as “false, unfounded, and intended to cause unwarranted disaffection.” He confirmed that while the government is evaluating concession proposals for five major airports, including Enugu, no decisions have been made regarding the duration or terms of any concession. But in statements late on Saturday, the interior ministry said his party was suspended for aiding the M23 rebels, while the justice ministry said his and other party leaders' assets would be seized after acts amounting to high treason. Both statements said prosecutors had been instructed to initiate proceedings against him, but no details of the accusations were given.
