 Thailand and Cambodia reach unconditional ceasefire to end border clashes, says Malaysian PM Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to an unconditional ceasefire starting at midnight, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced Monday, marking a major step toward ending five days of violent border clashes that have killed dozens and displaced tens of thousands.  One dead, 10 injured in Atlanta mass shooting Police are investigating a mass shooting in Atlanta that left one man dead and 10 others injured on Monday. Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and Police Chief Darin Schierbaum said during a press conference that around 1:27 a.m. EDT, three men and one woman opened fire on a crowd in the 300 block of Edgewood Avenue in the city’s Sweet Auburn neighborhood. A 27-year-old man, Santos J. Wyatt, was killed, and an 18-year-old male remains in critical condition. Most of the victims, ranging from 18 to 29 years old, are believed to have been caught in the crossfire rather than targeted directly. The suspects are still at large. Authorities also confirmed that another person was fatally shot in the city over the weekend. In total, 29 people were shot across Atlanta in 12 separate incidents of gun violence. Additionally, police said one person was wounded in a separate shooting earlier the same evening during a dispute in a nearby parking lot.

A recent instance is a video featuring a voice note that falsely claims Fulani Herdsmen attacked a community in Umuchu, resulting in multiple fatalities. The Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor in  a press statement in Awka has clarified that investigations have revealed the claim to be entirely baseless. It has been confirmed that no incident of the nature described occurred in Umuchu or any other part of Anambra State, and there was no involvement of Fulani herdsmen in such an incident. Dr. Michael Ekpali Odey, the newly appointed RSIEC Chairman, announced the postponement during his address at the unveiling of the revised election timetable on Monday.  Alert issued for ham salad products due to Listeria concerns The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert for ready-to-eat ham salad products potentially contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a harmful bacteria. The alert concerns products made with breadcrumb ingredients recently recalled by Newly Weds Foods and used by Reser’s Fine Foods, Inc. The affected items include 12-ounce tubs labeled “Reser’s Fine Foods Ham Salad” with a sell-by date of September 1, 2025, and 5-pound tubs labeled “Molly’s Kitchen Ham Salad” with a sell-by date of August 31, 2025. Both products carry the USDA inspection mark and were distributed nationwide. FSIS is advising consumers not to eat these products and to either discard them or return them to the place of purchase. The crash occurred at approximately 10:55 p.m. PDT on Saturday, between 200 and 300 yards from Point Pinos near Monterey. Authorities reported that the plane had taken off from San Carlos Airport in the San Francisco Bay area and was carrying three people at the time of the incident. A large-scale search and rescue effort involving Coast Guard boats, helicopters, and local law enforcement began immediately after the crash, leading to the discovery of the first victim’s body at about 3 a.m. on Sunday.  Three killed in train crash in Germany, police say Three people died and several others were seriously injured when a passenger train derailed in southwestern Germany on Sunday, according to a police statement. The incident occurred between the towns of Riedlingen and Munderkingen, near the region where Germany borders France and Switzerland. About 100 passengers were on board at the time. The train was traveling a route of roughly 90 kilometers (55 miles) between Sigmaringen and Ulm when two carriages left the tracks. Authorities are investigating the cause of the derailment. A photo from the German news agency DPA showed the carriages largely intact but jackknifed together and tipped onto their sides. Deutsche Bahn, the national rail operator, confirmed multiple injuries and expressed condolences to those affected, pledging full cooperation with investigators.

The Orleans Parish correctional facility mistakenly freed 30-year-old Khalil Bryan, who was being held on charges including aggravated assault with a firearm, domestic abuse, child endangerment, and home invasion. Bryan’s record also includes burglary, assault, and drug-related offenses. The release was due to a clerical mistake involving another inmate with a similar last name. Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson took full responsibility for the error, saying the system failed due to human error in the verification process. Bryan was released just after 1 a.m. on Friday, but the public was not informed until later that day. It remains unclear when officials realized the mistake or when the sheriff was notified.  TEACHER FOUND DEAD IN CLASSROOM AT KING'S COLLEGE, LAGOS 28th July, 2025      A 48-year-old teacher at King’s College, Lagos, Mr. Ezekiel Akano was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Saturday evening inside one of the school’s classrooms. According to police sources, the school’s Vice Principal, Mr. Oguniyi Ayodele reported the incident to the Lagos State Police Command at approximately 7:40 p.m. He stated that he had been alerted to the discovery of Mr. Akano’s lifeless body within the school premises is located at No. 3 Catholic Mission Street, Lagos Island. In response, a team of detectives was immediately deployed to the scene. The area was cordoned off, and investigators conducted a thorough examination. In a statement released on Sunday, NIMC spokesperson Kayode Adegoke highlighted the growing vulnerability of citizens to data theft, driven by fraudulent schemes.  EFCC Secures Final Forfeiture of Tractors, Auto Rickshaws Justice Haleema Saleeman of the Kwara State High Court, Ilorin has ordered the final forfeiture of two tractors and two auto rickshaws by Kayode Oyin-Zubair, a former Special Assistant on Community Intervention to ex-Kwara State governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed in favour of Self Reliance Economic Advancement Programme, SEAP in the state. In giving the ruling on Thursday, July 24, 2025, Justice Saleeman dismissed an application filed by Oyin-Zubair, seeking to set aside an earlier interim forfeiture order on the items and upheld the arguments of EFCC’s counsel, Mustapha Kaigama in favour of the applicant, Self Reliance Economic Advancement Programme, SEAP that the assets were acquired with proceeds of unlawful activity. The proposed changes, outlined in the 2025 Electoral Bill, aim to repeal the Electoral Act No. 13, 2022, and introduce new regulations for federal, state, and Federal Capital Territory area council elections.  EFCC Arrests 32 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Bauchi   Operatives of the Gombe Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes  Commission, EFCC on Friday, July 25, 2025 arrested  32 suspected internet  fraudsters.    They were arrested in Sabon Kaura and Gwalameji areas of  Bauchi, Bauchi State capital following credible intelligence that linked them to fraudulent internet activities. Items recovered  from them include: nine Samsung mobile phones, 15 iPhones, one infinix phone, three Redmi phones, two iPads, one Peugeot 406 car, two Playstation 4, one PlayStation 5, four Neonx Auto bike, eight laptop computers, one Maxi E50KWH generator and one pistol.
