 Federal Government Mandates Monthly Transaction Reporting for Banks and Financial Institutions The Federal Government of Nigeria has introduced a new directive compelling banks and other financial institutions to report monthly financial transactions exceeding N25 million for individuals and N100 million for corporate entities to the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). The policy, aimed at enhancing tax compliance and curbing financial malpractices, was announced on Tuesday by the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, during a press briefing in Abuja. The directive, effective from September 1, 2025, requires all commercial banks, microfinance institutions, and other financial entities to submit detailed transaction reports to the FIRS by the 10th of each month.  Young Man Nabbed for Stealing Electrical Wires in Aba A young man was apprehended this afternoon by the Abia State Vigilante Group for allegedly stealing electrical wires from a storey building near Obikabia Junction, Ogbor Hill, Aba.  According to reports, the suspect broke into the building in broad daylight and was caught red-handed removing wires. The vigilante group swiftly intervened, detaining the suspect at the scene. Further details regarding the suspect’s identity and potential charges are yet to be disclosed by authorities.  Niger signs nuclear deal with Russia amid deteriorating ties with West Niger and Russia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in civilian nuclear use and uranium mining, TRT Afrika reported.  AES Troops to Participate in Benin's Independence Parade Ahead of its 65th independence anniversary, Benin is extending an invitation to troops from the Alliance of Sahel States for a military parade in Cotonou on August 1, Sputnik reported.
