 Kebbi Govt Donates 10 Hilux Vehicles to Boost Security on Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway  The Kebbi State Government has handed over 10 brand-new Hilux vehicles to the Federal Ministry of Works to strengthen security for personnel working on the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway project. The vehicles were formally received by the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, who praised Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasiru Idris (Kauran Gwandu), for the donation. Goronyo described the gesture as a clear demonstration of the state government’s commitment to protecting workers and contractors on the strategic highway corridor. In a video shared from Abuja Zone 6 court, Fayose said his tenants—about 25 of them occupying 24 flats and a restaurant in his estate—owe him a staggering ₦287 million in rent. According to him, instead of paying up, the tenants filed a case against him alleging he threatened their lives.  Spirit Airlines to lay off 1,800 flight attendants as part of bankruptcy cost-cutting plan Spirit Airlines plans to furlough about 1,800 flight attendants, roughly a third of its cabin crew, as part of efforts to cut costs during its second bankruptcy in under a year. John Bendoraitis, Spirit’s chief operating officer, told flight attendants in a memo Monday that the airline faces “difficult decisions” regarding its network, fleet, and workforce as it works to return to profitability. The airline has already seen around 800 attendants take voluntary leave, which has temporarily reduced the need for involuntary furloughs. The company will first offer voluntary furloughs, allowing attendants to take six- or 12-month leaves while keeping medical benefits. The final number affected remains unclear.  ‘He’s politically dead’ – APC slams Tambuwal The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Sokoto State has blasted former Governor Aminu Tambuwal, describing him as “politically retired.” The State Chairman of the party, Sadiq Achida, launched the attack while addressing journalists on Monday in Sokoto. Achida said that Tambuwal had no independent political base, claiming that he rose to power through the influence of political godfathers, particularly Senator Aliyu Wamakko. According to him, Tambuwal’s political future was bleak. “No Abuja alliance, no media propaganda, no recycled coalition can revive a politician whose only legacy is propaganda and a collapsed state,” the APC chairman said. Achida also alleged that Tambuwal refused to formally hand over to his successor in 2023, to avoid being held accountable for leaving behind a state riddled with incomplete projects.

 Caretaker fatally attacked by tiger at southeastern Oklahoma wildlife preserve An animal handler was killed Saturday by a tiger at Growler Pines Tiger Preserve in southeastern Oklahoma, the organization confirmed Sunday. The preserve, located near Hugo, close to the Texas border, described the death of Ryan Easley as “an accident” involving a tiger under his care. In a statement on its Facebook page, the facility said, “This tragedy is a painful reminder of both the beauty and unpredictability of the natural world. Ryan understood those risks — not out of recklessness but out of love. The animals under his care were not just animals to him, but beings he formed a connection with — one rooted in respect, daily care, and love.” Growler Pines said all tours are canceled until further notice. The private preserve allows visitors to book tours to see tigers and watch demonstrations on how the animals are trained and cared for.

 Tom Holland sustains concussion on set of Spider-Man: Brand New Day  Tom Holland is taking a brief break from filming the upcoming Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, after suffering a mild concussion. He is expected to return to the set within a few days. Holland, 29, has played Spider-Man/Peter Parker since Captain America: Civil War in 2016 and most recently starred in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. Production on the fourth installment of the franchise is underway. Last month, Holland shared a photo in his iconic costume, and Sony Pictures released a behind-the-scenes video in August showing him on set. Holland described the start of filming as “day one” and noted the excitement of having fans present. He previously teased the movie’s “crazy” storyline, promising it would be unlike anything seen in the series before. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled for release on July 31, 2026.

 5 teens injured in El Paso apartment complex shooting Five teenagers were injured Monday night in a shooting at an apartment complex in El Paso, Texas, authorities said. Police said a group of youths in an outdoor area of the complex seemed to be on the verge of a fight when a male opened fire into the crowd. Two girls and three boys, ages 15 to 17, were taken to local hospitals. One teen may have sustained life-threatening injuries, while the others were reported to have non-life-threatening wounds. Authorities have taken a 15-year-old into custody but have not confirmed whether he was the shooter, police said. El Paso is located near the U.S.-Mexico border.

 Sinclair refuses to air Kimmel’s show even as it returns to ABC  Sinclair Broadcast Group will continue pre-empting “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on its ABC affiliate stations, even as ABC prepares to bring the show back on Tuesday. In a statement Monday evening, Sinclair said it will replace the program with news programming while discussions with ABC continue over the show’s potential return. The decision comes as Sinclair weighs a possible divestiture of its local broadcast stations, which would require regulatory approval. It remains unclear whether other major broadcast groups, like Nexstar—which recently announced it would pull the show from its lineup—will follow Sinclair’s lead. Nexstar, the largest local station owner in the U.S., is in the process of acquiring Tegna, the fourth-largest broadcaster, in a $6.2 billion all-cash deal.

E Messiri of the Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Jabi, Abuja. Yilkan, who hails from Nguru, Yobe State, was found guilty on a two-count charge of obtaining money by false pretence, contrary to Section 1(1)(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act, 2006, and punishable under Section 1(3) of the same Act, and consequently sentenced to eight years imprisonment without option of fine. National Assembly unseals Senator Natasha’s office The National Assembly has unsealed the office of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, located in Suite 2.05 of the Senate Wing.  The office was unsealed on Tuesday by the Deputy Director of the Sergeant-at-Arms, Alabi Adedeji, potentially paving the way for the Kogi Central Senator to return to the Red Chamber when plenary resumes on October 7, 2025. She had, a week earlier, written to the upper chamber to notify them of her intention to resume duties following her six-month suspension. Watch video below.
