 Trump announces Hamas disarmament and Israeli troop withdrawal agreement under Gaza ceasefire plan   President Donald Trump announced Thursday that Hamas has agreed to a plan to disarm and that Israel will withdraw its forces from Gaza as part of a U.S.-backed ceasefire framework. Trump described the agreement as a major step toward creating a new Palestinian government in Gaza that would work with the newly established Board of Peace to oversee the next stages of the plan. The president said the agreement would also provide Israel with increased security by preventing Gaza from being used as a launching point for future attacks. Details of the agreement were limited, and neither Israel nor Hamas immediately released statements responding to Trump’s announcement.  High Court confirms Liam Payne £21m estate arrangements for son Bear, inheritance structure set Court proceedings have confirmed how Liam Payne’s estate will be handled, with his nine year old son, Bear Gray Payne, set to receive the assets. Documents from the High Court show the estate, valued at just over £21 million, can now be used in part for Bear’s immediate benefit. The remainder will be held in trust until he turns 18. Payne, 31, died in October 2024 after falling from a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He did not leave a will. Following his death, Cheryl Tweedy and music industry lawyer Richard Bray were appointed as administrators of the estate through a grant of probate issued in Newcastle. Their initial role was limited to collecting and preserving assets.  Former ESPN anchor Sage Steele apologized to her kids before suing network Sage Steele, former ESPN anchor turned conservative commentator, recently revealed the candid conversation she had with her children before filing a lawsuit against the network.  Steele, who shares three adult children with ex-husband Jonathan Bailey, explained that she warned them about the backlash they might face, urging them not to defend her but to stand firm in the importance of “diversity of thought.”  Her son encouraged her, telling her it was “about time” she stood up for herself.  Woman found after 24 years on the run, arrested for preexisting warrant A woman who had been missing for 24 years in North Carolina was arrested after authorities discovered she had an outstanding warrant that predated her disappearance. Michele Hundley Smith, 38 at the time, vanished in December 2001 after leaving her Eden, North Carolina, home to go Christmas shopping in Martinsville, Virginia, roughly 30 minutes away. Earlier this month, the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office located her after entering her information into a missing persons database and receiving a match. On February 25, 2026, Smith was taken into custody by the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office at the request of Rockingham County authorities. Court records show she had a DWI charge from November 2001, a month before she disappeared, which led to a Failure to Appear warrant in December 2001. The underlying DWI case remains open.  The Kano State Police Command has arrested three principal suspects for the gruesome murder of a housewife and her six children. The incident occurred in Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters on Saturday, January 17, 2025. The victims, Fatima Abubakar, 35, and her children, Maimuna, 17, Aisha, 16, Bashir, 13, Abubakar, 10, Faruk, 7, and Abdulsalam, barely one and half years old, were attacked with dangerous weapons after hoodlums broke into their residence.  The spokesperson of the command, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, said the suspects identified as Umar Auwalu, Isyaku Yakubu, and Yakubu Abdulaziz, were arrested during a sting operation that lasted for seven hours.    The leader of the gang and a nephew to the deceased housewife, Umar Auwalu, confessed to the crime. NFL requires all stadium playing surfaces to meet new safety standards by 2028 The NFL announced that by the start of the 2028 season, all stadium playing surfaces must meet new, enhanced standards developed through extensive lab and field testing. The initiative, outlined by NFL field director Nick Pappas on Thursday, aims to provide each team with a “library of approved and accredited NFL fields” ahead of next season. New fields will need to meet these standards immediately, and teams will have two years to bring existing surfaces—whether natural grass, synthetic, or hybrid—into compliance. Pappas explained that artificial surfaces are typically replaced every two to three years, while natural fields can be refreshed multiple times within a season. The approval process involves rigorous testing overseen by a joint committee with the NFL Players Association.
