 Enugu Priest killing : Police Arrest 38 Suspects The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Police Command, CP Mamman Giwa, has ordered the intensification of the ongoing manhunt for the armed men who shot and murdered Rev Fr Matthew Eya. Fr Eya was shot dead by alleged kidnappers in the night hours of 19th September 2025, along Eha-Ndiagu Eha-Etiti Road in Eha-Alumona community of Nsukka Local Government Area. This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the state police command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, in a release on Sunday. According to him, “CP Giwa had earlier directed the Udenu Area Commander, alongside Heads of Tactical and Operational Squads of the Command, to fish out the fleeing assailants upon receipt of information on the incident.” He said as a result, police operatives under the Udenu Area Command’s coverage have arrested thirty-eight suspects, following bush combing and raids of different black spots in the area.

Justin Shaku, has received the remains of eight additional police personnel who lost their lives in the deadly ambush at Agu Center in Mbatyula/Mberev Council Ward.  Katsina Principal Under Probe for Selling School Property The Katsina State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (KTPCACC) has launched a sweeping investigation into alleged fraud involving school principals, ward officials, and state departments, with losses running into hundreds of millions of naira. According to the commission, four secondary school principals in Danja, Rimaye, Maigora, and Kurami are under probe for alleged mismanagement of ₦6.6 million in school funds. One of them is accused of selling government-owned property worth millions of naira. The commission also revealed that councillors and Community Development Officers diverted about ₦46 million during the distribution of subsidised fertilizer under a state programme. Ward officials in Musawa, Malumfashi, Matazu, Faskari, and Funtua LGAs allegedly pocketed amounts ranging from ₦52,000 to over ₦25 million. Some suspects have confessed and begun refunding the money.  European-American University Disowns Fake Degree Awarded to Musician Rarara The European-American University has disowned an alleged honorary doctorate degree conferred on Hausa musician, Dauda Kahutu Rarara, describing the award as fraudulent. The ceremony, held at Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, was attended by dignitaries including Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda. In a statement on its official website, the university said it never authorised the event or conferred any degree on Rarara or others mentioned as recipients. It identified individuals who paraded themselves as its officials, including Musari Audu Isyaku and Idris Aliyu, as having no legal authority to represent the institution. The university further clarified that its current Vice Chancellor is Professor Luca Scotto di Tella, not Dr Josephine Egbuta, who was dismissed earlier this year. It vowed to involve Nigerian authorities to take action against those behind the fake convocation.

 Malawi's ex-President Mutharika takes early lead in election Malawi's former President Peter Mutharika has taken an early lead in this week's election, in which he faced off for the fourth time against incumbent Lazarus Chakwera, provisional results from one-quarter of councils showed, Reuters reported. Mutharika received roughly 51% of the valid votes cast in nine of the country's 36 councils, compared with nearly 39% for Chakwera, according to Reuters calculations based on results released by the country's election commission. A candidate needs to secure more than 50% of valid votes for an outright win, otherwise there will be a second round. Political analysts had predicted that the September 16 vote would be a two-horse race between Mutharika and Chakwera, the presidential candidates of the two biggest parties in the Southern African country's parliament. The assailant, said to have trekked from Otukpa-Ukalegu, attacked the victim with a machete before destroying property. Enraged youths retaliated by burning down his house and nearby buildings. FG REVOKES 1,263 MINERAL LICENSES. (PHOTO).

 FEDERAL GOVERNMENT REVOKES 1,263 MINERAL LICENSES   1,263 mineral licenses have been revoked by the Federal Government due to annual service fees default. These include 584 exploration licenses, 65 mining leases, 144 quarry licenses, and 470 small-scale mining leases. Approving the revocation following the recommendation of the Mining Cadastre Office, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake said applying the law to keep speculators and unserious investors away from the mining sector would make way for diligent investors and grow the sector. The latest revocation brings the total mineral titles revoked under the current administration to 3, 794 including, 619 mineral titles revoked for defaulting in paying annual service fees and 912 for dormancy last year.

 Lagos Badagry West LCDA Vice Chairman, Oluremi Ajose is dead The Vice Chairman of Badagry West Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Lagos State, Princess Oluremi Nutayi Ajose, has died two months after assuming office. Reports from the ancient town of Badagry confirmed that the late council vice chairman died on Saturday, sending shockwaves through the local political and traditional communities.  Limpopo man arrested after allegedly pointing firearm at shop employee A 44-year-old man has been arrested in Westenburg, Polokwane, after he allegedly pointed a firearm at a shop teller in Ladanna. Police said the incident occurred on Thursday, September 18, when the suspect, who was a customer, threatened to shoot the employee during an argument. Officers responded quickly and found the man still at the shop. “During the interview, the suspect admitted to pointing the teller with a firearm, which was inside his vehicle,” police spokesperson said. Further investigations led officers to the suspect’s workshop, where additional firearms were found. A search of his farm also uncovered four rifles and ammunition. The suspect claimed the weapons belonged to a client who had brought a vehicle for service at his workshop.
