WHY FILLING STATIONS ARE CLOSED IN MAKURDI. (PHOTO).

Image
WHY FILLING STATIONS ARE CLOSED IN MAKURDI 29th May, 2025      I’ve just been briefed on the situation surrounding the widespread closure of filling stations across Makurdi. It appears the shutdown stems from a dispute between the Ministry of Trade & Industry, the Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), and several fuel stations particularly NZE Oil over issues related to tax renewal and compliance. Reports indicate that NZE Oil refused to comply with a tax payment demand, going as far as breaking the BIRS seal placed on its premises. In response, the association representing filling station operators allegedly threatened a statewide shutdown unless their detained staff member was released. They also escalated the matter to their national and affiliate bodies, even as discussions for an amicable resolution were ongoing at the police station. Let me be clear, if this account is accurate, it is wholly unacceptable for any group to hold an entire state to rans...

Sadly, within 24 hours Arya's parents would be making preparations for her funeral and wondering how they got to this point. Arya's mother said she dropped Arya of Friday night and was told that there were adults in the home to supervise the children. However 2 short hours later she received a heartbreaking call. Somehow Arya had fallen from a 3rd story window of her friend's home. Arya would not survive the injuries she sustained from what the Worchester County DA is describing as an "unattended death".
