 Kebbi Govt Donates 10 Hilux Vehicles to Boost Security on Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway  The Kebbi State Government has handed over 10 brand-new Hilux vehicles to the Federal Ministry of Works to strengthen security for personnel working on the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway project. The vehicles were formally received by the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, who praised Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasiru Idris (Kauran Gwandu), for the donation. Goronyo described the gesture as a clear demonstration of the state government’s commitment to protecting workers and contractors on the strategic highway corridor. He explained that the vehicles will be deployed exclusively to security operatives providing cover for construction teams along the section of the super highway passing through Kebbi State. Nigeria Deports 42 Chinese and Philippine Nationals Over Cyber Fraud & Ponzi Schemes  The Federal Government has deported 42 foreign nationals made up of Chinese and Philippine citizens after they were convicted for their involvement in cyber fraud and Ponzi-related offences in Nigeria. According to authorities, the individuals were found guilty of operating illegal online investment platforms that defrauded unsuspecting Nigerians of millions of naira. The deportation was carried out after the completion of all legal procedures. Fraud has no nationality. Crime is crime   and Nigeria is showing that it will not serve as a safe haven.  Man must eat - UEW graduate says as he turns to construction work after failing to land a job two years after completion  A young graduate from the University of Education, Winneba, has opened up about life after school, revealing how tough things have been since completing two years ago. According to him, all the promises of jobs after National Service turned out to be “red flags and 419.”  With no white-collar job in sight, he now works as a construction labourer, digging foundations, manholes, carrying blocks and filling. “I’m proud of what I do. I can’t tell if it’s permanent or temporary, but man must eat. At the right time, things will work,” he said in an Instagram video. “Your degree alone won’t save you — it’s about what you can do," he advised other jobless graduates.

 We are deeply saddened to report the tragic passing of Kseniya Alexandrova, a former Miss Universe contestant and Vice-Miss Russia 2017, at the young age of 30. Alexandrova died on August 15th from severe head injuries sustained in a devastating car accident on July 5th.  Reports indicate that an elk crashed through the windshield of the car she was in, causing her to fall into a coma. Her modeling agency confirmed her passing after she remained in a comatose state. This sudden and heartbreaking loss has sent shockwaves through the pageant and entertainment communities. Our thoughts are with her husband, family, and friends during this profound time of grief.

 CAC REFUSES TO REGISTER 247 ENTITIES AS LLC The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) warned members of the general public to ignore unfounded claims that 247 controversial entities were registered as Limited Liability Company (LLC). In a X post, CAC declared that the 247 listed companies have been deleted from its database and people should not relate with them as registered limited liability companies. The federal commission further added that no Registered Certificate (AC) numbers were assigned to the companies and the public should disregard claims that the public entities are legal in any official capacity.

 Foreign Nationals Break Into Farm, Steal Livestock and Vehicles in Delmas A group of armed foreign nationals allegedly broke into a farm near the Kusile Power Station in Delmas on Thursday, 14 August 2025, and made off with several stolen items. According to Tshenolo PI Security, five suspects forcefully entered the premises during the early hours of the morning and stole:  • A silver Ford Ranger Club Cab  • A silver BMW loaded with 50 egg-laying chickens  • 11 sheep  • A blue and black generator  • A silver fridge  • A pair of jumper cables  • Five cellphones With the assistance of a tracking company, law enforcement traced the stolen Ford Ranger, BMW, and a silver Mazda believed to have been used in the crime.  Two Suspected Zimbabwean Thieves Arrested With Stolen Ford Ranger En Route to Zimbabwe Two suspects were arrested after being found with a stolen Ford Ranger Wildtrak 4x4 worth R800 000, which they were allegedly attempting to smuggle into Zimbabwe. The vehicle was stolen in the early hours of Friday, 15 August 2025, in the Brooklyn area of Pretoria. Intelligence later revealed that it was being driven towards the Beitbridge border. The Limpopo Tracking Team, working with several security companies, quickly launched an operation. The vehicle was intercepted on the N1 near Botlokwa, and the suspects, aged between 31 and 44, were arrested on the spot. The swift action prevented the vehicle from crossing the border. It has since been impounded for further investigation. The suspects are expected to appear before the Sekgosese Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 18 August 2025. One more photo below.

 Bye-election: APGA’s Mimi Azikiwe beats ADC for Onitsha North constituency The candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, Mimi Azikiwe, has reportedly been declared winner of the just concluded Onitsha North Constituency 1 by-election. According to The Whistler, Azikiwe recorded a landslide victory, garnering 7,774 votes to defeat his opponents from other parties. She defeated candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC Justina Azuka, the wife of Justice Azuka who was abducted and killed by armed men in 2024. The seat in the State House of Assembly became vacant after Azuka, who was a member of the Labour Party was killed by the daredevil kidnappers. Professor Ebien, the returning officer for the election declared Azikiwe the winner. The All Progressive Congress, APC, came third in the election with 1,371 votes.

 Corpse of missing Nigerian woman found in US Authorities in Illinois have discovered the body of a missing Nigerian woman, Olasinmibo Abosede, popularly known as Sinmi. The remains were found on Thursday at about 1:55 p.m. in the Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve near the intersection of 83rd Street and Chandelle Drive, according to the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County and the Naperville Police Department. Police said the deceased’s clothing matched what the 42-year-old was last seen wearing when she disappeared on July 30.  INEC declares Zamfara by-election inconclusive The  Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the Kaura Namoda South State Constituency by-election in Zamfara inconclusive. The INEC Returning Officer for the election, Lawal Sa’Adu, a professor in Federal University Gusau said that the declaration followed the cancellation of results from some polling units in Sakajiki and Kambarawa wards. Sa’adu said the total number of registered voters in the affected polling units stood at 5,446, while 3,265 Permanent Voter Cards were collected in those areas. He explained that the All Progressives Congress scored 7,001 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party scored 5,339 votes, leaving a margin of 1,662 votes. Sa’adu stated that the margin was less than the total number of PVCs collected in the cancelled polling units, therefore, the election cannot be concluded. Isa, 50, tried to take his own life by stabbing himself severally in the tummy before cutting into his manhood. He was rushed to the General Hospital where doctors performed emergency surgery to save his life.  BENUE: OGBADIBO LG CHAIR DECLARES CURFEW IN OROKAM OVER RISING INSECURITY 17th August, 2025    The Executive Chairman of Ogbadibo Local Government Area, Hon. Sunday Ameh Ajunwa, has declared a dusk-to-dawn curfew in and around Orokam community following a surge in kidnappings and violent attacks that have claimed lives in recent weeks. In an official statement issued on Saturday, August 16, the council boss announced that the restriction of movement will take effect from Sunday, August 17, 2025, between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. daily until further notice. According to Ajunwa, the measure is aimed at curtailing criminal activities, limiting unnecessary movement at night, and enabling security agencies to intensify patrols and respond swiftly to emergencies.  KWARA UNIVERSITY HANDS OVER ELECTRIC VEHICLES TO STATE GOVT 17th August, 2025    The Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete has handed over two vehicles which were converted from petroleum engine to electric, to the Kwara State Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Technology, Leadership News reports.  Presenting the vehicles on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, the Chairman of KWASU Hold-co, Prof. Kenneth Adeyemi described the initiative as a success story that would contribute to sustainable environments while adding economic value to the society. He expressed gratitude to the ministry for trusting KWASU with the project and assured that the remaining vehicles would be ready for presentation by September 2025.

 Sudan paramilitary RSF kills dozens in attack on famine-hit Darfur camp The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces has shelled a famine-stricken displacement camp in Sudan’s western region of Dafur, killing at least 31 people, including seven children and a pregnant woman, a medical group said. The Rapid Support Forces artillery shelling of the Abu Shouk camp outside Al Fasher, the provincial capital of North Darfur province, also wounded 13 others, the Sudan Doctors Network said in a statement, AP reported. The shelling was second attack on the camp in less than a week. The Resistance Committees in Al Fasher, a grassroots group tracking the war, said RSF launched an hours-long “extensive artillery shelling” on the camp early Morning.  'Armed bandits' kill 20 civilians in west Niger Armed "bandits" killed 20 civilians travelling on a truck in the western region of Niger where insurgent groups are active, locals said, AFP reported. The attack occurred on Thursday near the town of Komabangou, according to residents and media reports. The truck, coming from the market town of Mehanna, was intercepted by "armed bandits" near the Komabangou gold mine, a local resident reported. The attackers "made all the passengers get off, put nineteen men on one side, and shot them," the source said, adding that the driver was also killed and the truck set on fire. Women unharmed Women were unharmed and two other passengers managed to escape, the local said. The attack was also mentioned on social media and in local media.
