 Two-Storey Building Collapses During Decking Process In Lagos Another two-storey building under construction have collapsed during the decking process at Craig Street in Shomolu area of Lagos. ‎ ‎The collapsed structure was one of two two buildings being constructed at the site and the cause of the incident is yet to be determined as at the time of this report.  ‎ ‎Foryunately, no life was lost and no injuries recorded as the workers escaped the scene unscathed before the arrival of emergency responders.  ‎ ‎The pillars of the collapsed building fell on a nearby church which was partially affected and miraculously, no life was lost and no injuries sustained as worshippers in the church also escaped unscathed..  ‎ ‎Coordinated search of the incident scene was conducted to ensure no victim was trapped under the collapsed building.  BECE: Two students miss Maths paper after being locked up by Headmaster for owing school fees Two BECE candidates from Big Six International School in Meduma missed their Mathematics paper after their headmaster allegedly locked them up over unpaid fees.  The students were to write the exam at Simms High School in Fawoade but were reportedly confined and denied access to the centre. According to Citi News, the headmaster allegedly detained the candidates over unpaid school fees, barring them from leaving the school premises in time to write the exam.

 The Additional Medical Superintendent of Ahmedabad’s Civil Hospital, Dr Rajnish Patel, on Monday confirmed that DNA sample matches in the Air India plane crash have reached 92, corresponding to 87 individuals due to duplication. So far, 47 bodies have been dispatched to different districts across Gujarat and Rajasthan. “Of the bodies brought to Civil Hospital, DNA matching of 92 (body remains) is completed. Of this, the number of individuals is 87 because there is duplication. 47 bodies have been dispatched from here to districts including Kheda, Ahmedabad, Kota, Mahesana, Bharuch, Vadodara, Aravalli, Anand, Junagarh, Bhavnagar, Amreli, Mahisagar and Bhavnagar,” Dr Patel said.  BENUE: VICTIMS NAMED AS YELEWATA COMMUNITY COUNTS IT'S DEAD 16th June, 2025    A heart-wrenching list of names has emerged from the ruins of Yelewata community in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, following a brutal attack that left families decimated and the entire state in mourning. The massacre, which occurred days ago, is one of the deadliest in recent memory, with entire families wiped out in a wave of violence widely attributed to suspected armed herders. The victims span across more than 40 families, some losing up to seven members in a single night.  The King and Queen, and Members of the Royal Family, at St George’s Chapel in Windsor today for the annual Garter Day service and procession. This event is one of the most traditional ceremonies in the Royal calendar. The King and the Knights process in grand velvet robes, glistening insignia and plumed hats within the grounds of Windsor Castle. The Order of Garter was created nearly 700 years ago, in medieval times, by King Edward III. King Edward was so inspired by tales of King Arthur and the chivalry of the Knights of the Round Table that he set up his own group of honourable knights (The Order of the Garter!).  More photos below.

 WHATSAPP MONETIZATION FEATURES TO ROLL OUT GLOBALLY  Meta has perfected plans to roll out Whatsapp monetization globally very soon. Under the Llama impact grant, users will be able to earn money via their WhatsApp features. According to Meta, three new features will now be added to the Updates tab (which already accommodates Status and Channels) to make the monetization possible. So the Updates tab will now have Channel Subscriptions - for exclusive updates; Promoted Channels - for discoverability; and Ads in Status - for business visibility.   “We’ve been talking for years about how to build a business on WhatsApp in a way that doesn’t interrupt personal chats," Meta revealed. "We believe the Updates tab is the right place to introduce that." With more than 1.5 billion users, Whatsapp creators, organizations, and businesses will now be able to earn money on the communication platform.

Cameroon:  A 20-year-old man alleged that a man had taken his penis sparked chaos today, prompting bystanders to apprehend the suspect.  Gendarmes arrived, intervening to prevent jungle justice and taking the suspect into custody after efforts to calm the crowd.

YESTERDAY, A PREGNANT WOMAN IN ALABAMA WAS SHOT BY A COWORKER; UNFORTUNATELY TAKING THE LIFE OF THE BABY SHE WAS CARRYING.(PHOTO).

 Yesterday, a pregnant woman in Alabama was shot by a coworker; unfortunately taking the life of the baby she was carrying. Police were called to Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux on Tattersall Park Drive in Hoover, Alabama to the report of an employee shooting. Once on scene, the police discovered a 22-year-old female employee suffering from a single gunshot to the abdomen. The woman was rushed to UAB hospital where she was treated for the gunshot wound and is reported to be in stable condition. However, her baby was shot in utero and passed away.  A 36-year-old fellow employee was identified as the shooter. Law enforcement stated that the preliminary evidence suggests it was a case of "reckless behavior while handling a firearm". Detectives are still investigating all circumstances leading up to the alleged accidental shooting.  A Texas man attacked his mother with a hammer and then talked about it on a gaming platform.  24-year-old Robert Babin carried out a brutal attack on his mother on Wednesday, June 11th. After carrying out the attack, Babin allegedly took to an online gaming platform to confess to the crime and ask for advice. According to court documents, Babin said he was "in trouble and needed help". He went on to say he hit his mother a few times on the side  of the head with a hammer and "didn't want to end up on death row".  The friend advised Babin to call the police before he presumably contacting authorities himself.  When officers arrived at the Harris County  Texas home, they discovered Babin's 64-year-old mother unresponsive and showing severe injuries on her head in the backyard.  Ogun launches ‘Plastic for Cash’ to tackle pollution, boost recycling The Ogun State Government has unveiled the Plastic for Cash and Blue Box initiatives to combat plastic pollution and promote recycling. Environment Commissioner Ola Oresanya announced the programs during the 2024 World Environment Day, saying residents can now exchange plastic waste for cash or other items. The Blue Box scheme introduces house-to-house waste sorting to boost recycling and ease landfill pressure. With over 1.6 million metric tonnes of waste generated annually in Ogun, Oresanya said the initiatives aim to drive a circular economy and create jobs, especially for youth and low-income earners.

 Murder Trial: Chidinma Denies Stealing Usifo Ataga's Laptop In Court Chidinma Ojukwu, the alleged killer of Super TV CEO, Usifo Ataga, has denied stealing the late businessman’s phones and laptop, insisting during her testimony that the items recovered by police belonged to her. ‎ ‎The 23-year-old former Mass Communication student of the University of Lagos, who is currently standing trial for Ataga’s 2021 murder, continued her defence on Monday, before Justice Yetunde Adesanya of the Lagos State High Court, Tafawa Balewa Square Annex (TBS).
