A MANHUNT IS UNDERWAY FOR MAN WHO SHOT A GRANITE CITY POLICE OFFICER MULTIPLE TIMES.(PHOTO).

  A manhunt is underway for man who shot a Granite City Police Officer multiple times. Officers in Granite City, Illinois, responded to a call regarding a unwanted subject near the 2000 block of Johnson Road at 2:20 p.m. on Friday, December 5th. Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with the suspect. The suspect opened fire on officers before fleeing the scene.  Unfortunately, one officer was struck multiple times. The officer was rushed to a St. Louis University Hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery.  A massive manhunt is now underway to locate the suspect. Authorities warn the public that the man is considered armed and dangerous.  Marcy Correctional Facility staff member dies from self-inflicted gunshot at prison MARCY, NEW YORK - A staff member at Marcy Correctional Facility died Friday morning after shooting themself at the prison, officials confirmed. The individual brought a firearm into the facility’s administration building and used it on themselves. Staff immediately attempted life-saving measures, but the person succumbed to their injuries. Authorities said there is no threat to the public or to those incarcerated at the facility.

 Live-action Gremlins 3 scheduled for 2027 release A third live-action Gremlins film is scheduled for a 2027 theatrical release. Steven Spielberg will serve as executive producer, while Chris Columbus will both produce and direct the movie. Columbus, who wrote the original 1984 film about seemingly cute pets that turn into dangerous creatures if they get wet or are fed after midnight, also directed the 1990 sequel, Gremlins 2: The New Batch.  Three Chinese researchers indicted for illegally importing biological materials into U.S Three Chinese researchers at the University of Michigan have been charged with conspiring to smuggle biological materials into the United States, according to federal authorities. The researchers—Xu Bai, 28; Fengfan Zhang, 27; and Zhiyong Zhang, 30—held J-1 research visas and were working in the laboratory of Xianzhong “Shawn” Xu at UM. Investigators say that in 2024 and 2025, Bai and Fengfan Zhang received shipments from China containing biological materials linked to roundworms, which were sent by Chengxuan Han, a Chinese citizen and Ph.D. student at Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan. Han later traveled to the U.S. to work in the same laboratory, pleaded no contest to three counts of smuggling and one count of making false statements, and was subsequently sentenced and deported.  INEC reports 98.8% PVC collection ahead of Anambra governorship election INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, announced in Abuja on Thursday that 2,769,137 out of 2,802,790 registered voters—representing an impressive 98.8 per cent—have picked up their cards. Describing the turnout as “a significant achievement for any election in Nigeria,” Amupitan credited the success to INEC’s decision to extend the PVC collection window across all 326 Registration Areas. Initially, only 63.9 per cent of voters had collected their PVCs. Jones, who spent 11 seasons in the NBA, including four alongside LeBron James, is accused of providing nonpublic details about James and Anthony Davis that allegedly allowed bettors to profit. Over his career, Jones earned more than $20 million. His mother and stepfather are posting their Texas home as collateral for a $200,000 bond, allowing him to remain free while awaiting trial.
