 Kebbi Govt Donates 10 Hilux Vehicles to Boost Security on Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway  The Kebbi State Government has handed over 10 brand-new Hilux vehicles to the Federal Ministry of Works to strengthen security for personnel working on the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway project. The vehicles were formally received by the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, who praised Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasiru Idris (Kauran Gwandu), for the donation. Goronyo described the gesture as a clear demonstration of the state government’s commitment to protecting workers and contractors on the strategic highway corridor. He explained that the vehicles will be deployed exclusively to security operatives providing cover for construction teams along the section of the super highway passing through Kebbi State.  Hulk Hogan Is Dead Hulk Hogan (born Terry Gene Bollea) passed away on July 24, 2025, at the age of 71. According to multiple reports, including TMZ, he suffered a cardiac arrest at his Clearwater, Florida home and was declared dead after emergency responders were called to the scene. He had recently undergone neck surgery, and while there were rumours he was critically ill, his wife and representatives had reaffirmed his health status just weeks before his passing  . A legacy beyond the ring Hogan was a 12‑time world champion, twice inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, and widely credited with spearheading the rise of “Hulkamania” and the 1980s wrestling boom  .  Six students killed in fall at Chinese mining site Six students lost their lives after falling into a flotation tank during a visit to a mining facility in China.  The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday at the Wunugetushan Copper-Molybdenum Mine’s flotation plant, operated by Zhongjin Gold Corporation. The students, all from Northeastern University in Shenyang, were on a tour of the site when the grate they were standing on gave way, causing them to plunge into the industrial tank. Despite rescue efforts, medical personnel confirmed that all six students had died. A teacher accompanying the group was also injured in the fall. Flotation tanks are used in mineral processing to separate materials by mixing ground ore with water and chemicals to create a slurry.  GloRilla arrested in Georgia on felony drug charge Rapper GloRilla was arrested in Georgia on Tuesday for two felony drug charges, according to authorities in Forsyth County. She was taken into custody on counts of possessing a controlled substance and possessing more than an ounce of marijuana, both classified as felonies under state law. While officials have not released further details about the circumstances leading to her arrest, GloRilla was reportedly released later that same day after posting a $22,000 bond. This is her second arrest in Georgia within just over a year. In April 2024, she was arrested in Gwinnett County on suspicion of driving under the influence after officers pulled over a vehicle that allegedly made an illegal U-turn. Police at the time reported smelling marijuana and alcohol in the vehicle, and GloRilla allegedly admitted to drinking. Bodycam footage showed her appearing unsteady during a field sobriety test.

  ARMED HERDSMEN BEHEAD FARMER IN BENUE COMMUNITY 24th July, 2025     Tension has once again gripped Ukpiam community in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State following a brutal attack by suspected armed Fulani militias who reportedly beheaded a farmer, Mr. Gabriel Vandefan, in broad daylight. According to a Facebook post by Mr. Ango Japhet T, the gruesome incident occurred this afternoon at Tse Aghem.  The victim had gone to inspect his farm in the company of a woman when they were ambushed by the assailants. While the woman narrowly escaped with her life, Mr. Vandefan was not so fortunate, as he was reportedly slaughtered and decapitated on the spot. The community is still reeling from a similar attack barely a week ago, when armed herdsmen allegedly invaded the same Ukpiam area at night, firing sporadically and injuring several residents as they fled into the bush.

TCN said the vandal was electrocuted while trying to tamper with Tower 34 along the Nkalagu-Abakaliki 132kV transmission line. According to the transmission company, security operatives informed the TCN about the incident on July 19, 2025. It was also gathered that the accomplices to the crimes fled the location when their effort to vandalise the property went awry. But it seems the government is closing up all technical loopholes as it is.

 PROF. NENTAWE YILWATDA IS APC NEW NATIONAL CHAIRMAN  Professor Nentawe Yilwatda is the new national chairman of the ruling APC. He is replacing Abdullahi Umar Ganduje who resigned from the position a few weeks ago. Yilwatda emerged as the party chairman following a meeting between President Bola Tinubu and APC governors on Wednesday. His appointment will be ratified by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) later.  Yilwatda, 56, is from Plateau State and contested the state election in 2023. With the president and vice-president being Muslims, it was accepted that the APC chairman should be a Christian. "He is young, suave, well-educated, and doesn’t carry the usual political baggage,” an internal source said. “We believe he can give the party a new face and restore credibility ahead of future elections.”

 THREE TEENS DROWN IN BAUCHI RIVER  Three teenagers from Durum Village in Bauchi State reportedly lost their lives after drowning in the Bauchi river on Sunday. The spokesman for Bauchi State Police Command, CSP Ahmed Wakil, identified the teenagers as Habibu Mohammed, 16, Abubakar Mohammed, 16, and Zailani Sule, 14. Wakil said the boys were miners in the area but decided to take a quick dip in the cool river before they drowned. They were confirmed dead at the state specialist hospital and later released for family burial.

Man allegedly built and hid homemade bombs across New York City, prosecutors say A New York City man has been indicted for allegedly plotting to detonate homemade explosives he reportedly stashed at multiple locations throughout Manhattan, federal prosecutors announced. Michael Gann, 55, is accused of assembling at least seven improvised explosive devices last month using chemicals he purchased online in May. According to the indictment returned by a grand jury on Tuesday, Gann placed some of the devices on the rooftops of connected residential buildings and threw another onto subway tracks near the Williamsburg Bridge. Authorities said no one was harmed by the devices. Gann was arrested in early June near the sites, and officials found one of the bombs in his possession. Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s body to be transported to Los Angeles .  Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s body is being prepared for return to Los Angeles after his remains were released to his family following the completion of an autopsy in Costa Rica. Officials confirmed that the autopsy was finalized on Wednesday morning, and his body is expected to depart Costa Rica on Thursday, arriving in Los Angeles by Friday morning. The U.S. Embassy is assisting Warner’s family with arrangements to bring him home. According to sources familiar with the situation, Warner had been in Costa Rica with his daughter as part of a homeschooling program. His wife, who had been with them in the country weeks earlier, was not present at the time of the incident and reportedly learned of his passing via a phone call.
