Atiku Meets Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Saturday paid a visit to former President Goodluck Jonathan at his residence in Abuja. The encounter is their first since Jonathan returned from an election observation mission in Guinea-Bissau. Sharing pictures of the meeting on his verified social media platforms on Sunday, Atiku wrote, “It was a pleasure catching up with former President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday evening, following his recent return from Guinea-Bissau.” Jonathan, who served as President from 2010 to 2015, lost his re-election bid in 2015 to Muhammadu Buhari. The visit comes days after Atiku’s official defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), having resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party over claims that the party had strayed from the principles of its founding fathers. There are indications that Atiku may emerge as the ADC’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general election. One more photo below.

Image
South Africa readying last-minute trade offer to avoid US tariff South Africa is preparing a last-minute "enhanced" trade proposal at the urging of U.S. officials in hopes of avoiding a 30% tariff which kicks in on Friday, its trade minister said on Thursday, Reuters reported. South Africa initially submitted a proposed trade deal to President Donald Trump's administration in May and revised it in June, but received no response. "We're having to navigate a last-minute proposal that's enhanced from the proposal that we had initially given," Trade Minister Parks Tau said on South Africa's 702 radio, adding: "And to tell the truth, it's wait and see." The countdown to the August 1 deadline has stirred fear and uncertainty in South Africa, where the central bank governor has estimated a 30% U.S. tariff would put 100,000 jobs at risk, with the agriculture and automotive sectors hit hardest. MEGYN KELLY IS URGING DONALD TRUMP NOT TO PARDON SEAN “DIDDY” COMBS, WHO IS AWAITING SENTENCING FOR PROSTITUTION-RELATED CHARGES FOLLOWING A TRIAL THAT REVEALED DISTURBING DOMESTIC ABUSE ALLEGATIONS. (PHOTO).

Image
Megyn Kelly is urging Donald Trump not to pardon Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is awaiting sentencing for prostitution-related charges following a trial that revealed disturbing domestic abuse allegations. Kelly described the idea of a pardon as a “miscarriage of justice” and warned it could create a scandal on the scale of Epstein, further damaging Trump’s support among women voters. She reminded viewers that Diddy once supported Trump but later opposed him politically, and argued that pardoning him would send a harmful message to victims of abuse nationwide. With Trump’s base already divided, Kelly said a pardon would only deepen distrust and hurt the GOP’s standing. Do you agree with Kelly’s call for justice or believe Trump should intervene?

FAMILY MEMBERS OF THE LATE VIRGINIA GIUFFRE, A LEADING SURVIVOR OF JEFFREY EPSTEIN AND GHISLAINE MAXWELL’S TRAFFICKING OPERATION, HAVE ISSUED A FORCEFUL CALL TO PRESIDENT TRUMP: DO NOT PARDON MAXWELL.(PHOTO).

Image
Family members of the late Virginia Giuffre, a leading survivor of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell’s trafficking operation, have issued a forceful call to President Trump: do not pardon Maxwell. In a public statement released July 31, they called Maxwell a “monster who deserves to rot in prison for the rest of her life” and criticized recent remarks by Trump referring to Giuffre as someone Epstein “stole” from Mar-a-Lago. The family questioned if Trump fully grasped the scope of Epstein and Maxwell’s abuse. Ghislaine Maxwell is serving a 20-year sentence following her conviction on sex trafficking charges. While her defense lawyers and Trump allies have whispered about clemency or immunity, the family insists that mercy must not be granted warning that should a pardon occur, it would represent one of the most serious miscarriages of justice. What do you think should survivors hold the final say in clemency decisions?

COURT RULES TENNESSEE DEATH ROW INMATE MAY BE EXECUTED WITHOUT TURNING OFF IMPLANTED DEFIBRILLATOR. (PHOTO).

Image
Court rules Tennessee death row inmate may be executed without turning off implanted defibrillator The Tennessee Supreme Court ruled Thursday that a death row inmate can be executed without turning off his implanted defibrillator. This decision reverses a lower court order and allows Byron Black’s execution to proceed as planned on Tuesday morning. The dispute centered on whether the defibrillator would interfere with the lethal injection of pentobarbital. A Davidson County judge had previously ruled that the device might repeatedly shock Black’s heart during execution, causing extra pain and prolonging death, and ordered it be deactivated shortly before the procedure. The Supreme Court concluded that requiring deactivation would improperly interfere with the execution process, a power the lower court does not possess.

"They can take their dead economies down together, for all I care. We have done very little business with India, their tariffs are too high, among the highest in the world." LAGOS IS PLAYING WITH FIRE AND TINUBU MUST PUT IT OUT-BY BABAFEMI OJUDU. (PHOTO).

Image
Lagos Is Playing with Fire — And Tinubu Must Put It Out By Babafemi Ojudu A troubling trend is unfolding in Lagos State. In the aftermath of the recent local government elections, some newly elected officials have embarked on a reckless spree of renaming streets—particularly those bearing Igbo names or named after prominent non-indigenes. This is not coincidental; it is a calculated political maneuver rooted in resentment, identity politics, and shortsighted leadership. The long-simmering tension between Yoruba and Igbo communities reached a boiling point during the 2023 elections. Peter Obi of the Labour Party shocked the political establishment by defeating Bola Ahmed Tinubu—Lagos’s long-reigning political figure—in the presidential poll within the state. That upset sent shockwaves through the ruling APC, and fears grew that a similar surprise might unfold in the governorship race. What followed was an aggressive, divisive campaign that shamelessly weaponized ethnicity, fear, and mis...

Florida to execute man for killing wife and 2 children, setting new state record for executions in a year A Florida man who brutally murdered his family more than three decades ago is scheduled to be put to death Thursday evening, marking the ninth execution in the state this year and setting a grim new record for Florida in a single calendar year. His execution, ordered to be carried out at 6 p.m. at Florida State Prison near Starke by lethal injection, follows a final unsuccessful appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. Governor Ron DeSantis, who signed the death warrant, has already scheduled two additional executions for later in August, bringing the state’s 2025 total to at least 11 by the end of the month if all proceed. The previous modern-era record for executions in Florida was eight in 2014, with the death penalty reinstated...

LAWYERS CAUTION BRITISH GOVERNMENT ON PLAN TO RECOGNIZE PALESTINIAN STATE . (PHOTO).

Image
Lawyers caution British Government on plan to recognize Palestinian State  British lawmakers, including 43 members of the House of Lords, have warned Prime Minister Keir Starmer that his proposal to recognize a Palestinian state could breach international law. In a letter sent Thursday, the peers argued that Palestine does not meet the internationally accepted legal standards required for statehood, as outlined in the 1933 Montevideo Convention on the Rights and Duties of States. This treaty, signed by the United States and several Latin American countries, sets out that a recognized state must have a permanent population, an effective government, and the capacity to conduct relations with other states. The peers contended that while Palestine has a defined population, it lacks both a unified government and clearly defined borders, making the proposed recognition legally problematic. They pointed to the ongoing division between Fatah in the West Bank and Hamas in Gaza, noting...

The opposition party was reacting to a recent statement by the new APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, who claimed there would be “no vacancy in Aso Rock” come 2027. In a statement released on Tuesday, signed by the ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party described the APC chairman’s remark as “arrogant and undemocratic,” arguing that it disrespects Nigerians and their right to choose their leaders. The ADC emphasized that periodic elections ensure every incumbent must renew their mandate, making the APC’s claim dismissive of the electorate’s power. “The APC Chairman’s declaration of ‘no vacancy in Aso Rock’ is presumpt...
